I recently went on a vacation to my "home town". I'm a military brat, born in the Republic of Panama. I have family there and think it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Anything you can think of doing, you can do there. We climbed mountains, went to beach, swam in waterfalls, wrangled cattle, caught fish, etc, etc, etc....

I'd like to share just a few pics:

Horseback riding:

At the "bongo" with my Grandfather's cattle:

Fishing out on Gatun Lake (part of the Panama Canal):

At the beach:

Our front yard:

The Zoo:

A hiking trail (the painted rock, various waterfalls, and the "sleeping Indian Princess"):

The Sleeping Indian Princess (kind of hard to make out b/c of the poles and wires):

Atop the Sleeping Indian Princess:

If you ever get the chance to travel and visit panama, please do. Don't stay in the city, though. Travel in the "Interior" and you'll be happy you did.

If you have any questions, let me know. This place is as pretty as they come.

So. Jealous.

My mother has decided we are going next year. She has a husband picked out for me that she wants me to meet. Someone I used to play with when I was a child.

Did you blog your travels? I'd love to read about it.

most of the pics were taken at El Valle de Anton, in the province of Cocle. It's basically a town that is in the center of an extinct volcano. Very lush, much cooler (temp), and all around beatiful. The beach pictures were Santa Clara beach, while the fishing pictures were Gatun Lake. Lots o fun!

Awesome. I've bathed in Gatun Lake. I was dirty enough that the water seemed clean in comparison.

Gatun lake wasn't that dirty...you could see almost 25 feet down when it was sunny. If it was cloudy, you couldn't but see 3 or 4 feet. We hit many tree stumps in our pontoon boat.

Yeah if I rememer right it was raining when I got to the lake. Come to think of it, it was raining pretty much the entire time I was there... Love Panama though. The people were very cool.
