The highlights:
In an after hours speech on the house floor, Grayson presented the Republican health care plan.

“It’s a very simple plan,” Mr. Grayson said in an after-hours speech on the House floor Tuesday, unveiling a poster next to him that read in red and black capital letters, “The Republican health care plan: Don’t get sick.”

“But I think that the Republicans understand that’s not always going to work,” he added. “If you get sick, America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly.”

....

Less than two hours later, Mr. Grayson offered an apology of sorts. His remorse was not for Republicans, rather for the dead, he said, comparing the existing health care system to the Holocaust.

“I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven’t voted sooner to end this holocaust in America,” he said on the House floor Wednesday afternoon.

Well, I am glad to see that it is no longer just the Republicans who are resorting to scare tactics and rhetoric. Now we can really work fixing things.

I have to say though... for a freshman Rep to pull this on the house floor, this guy must have some big brass ones.

To begin fixing things, we have to throw each and every member of Congress out of office. Seriously. It's time to start from scratch.

It's time for real reasonable people who have NO previous political experience to take a leadership role.

Scoobysdad for Majority Whip!

I agree though.  It would be nice to get rid of all these clowns and replace them but it won't happen in our lifetimes.

No, just an election.

And some real, reasonable people with the guts and desire to lead America to step forward.

I believe this guy is a new representative. I saw him on CNN yesterday and he was standing his ground. Looked like the panel was trying to roast the guy, buy he seemed to genuinely stupid to realize what was happening. Carville was even kinda shaking his head in amazement that the guy wouldn't back off some. Speaking of Carville, anyone see him lately? He looks like he's sick. Anyone have any insight on that?

x whatever.

Did anyone actually see the tape of him doing the sign thing???  It was so over the top a little skit he had set up, he was so proud of himself for thinking it up, and having cr@ppy looking signs made.

The holocaust follow-up was just gravy.

I agree 100%.  I have been telling everyone I know to vote out the incumbent in 2010.  Doesn't matter if they are D or R or I.  Vote them out.

The problem is the bell curve.  50% of the people in the world are, how can I put this delicately .... um.... stupid.....  These are the idiots who are going to vote for the name they know and perpetuate the problem.

I think he is smart enough to know, he won't get any kind of punishment from his own party.

He understands that this is exactly the type of thing that will get him national recognition.

Lying in and to congress perfectly acceptable behavior apparently.

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

I question his judgment of using the Holocaust analogy.

I just wish there was one thing in any of the bills being discussed by the democrats that would reduce health care costs or increase the appeal for people to go into medicine.

Oh well sensationalism will get the microphone and the spotlight regardless how ridiculous it is.

None of those guys should have been/should be there.  I know a guy who was a page for Strom and he would answer the phone at random from constituents from the 803 or 843 area code (that's all of SC for those not in the know) and he'd solve that person's problem for them whatever it was.  But then he'd take a nap...

I'm sure Byrd and Kennedy did the same.  But should they be there when they can't be present for 50% of the votes?  It's selfish and stupid.

Don't forget Larry Craig. He was a 20+ year senator from ID.

Mostly I just wanted to remind everyone not to take a wide stance in the pooper.

Also I'm all for throwing every single person in government out and mandating term limits.

As an added bonus, thanks to Pelosi engineered changes in House rules, as of the beginning of this year, committee chairmanships are now limitless. While it used to be that you were limited to 6 years as the head of any committee, new chairs will only be chosen now when someone dies, retires, or is voted out.

Awesome.

Well, thank goodness Representative Grayson had exhibits to clarify his message, though I would have preferred a power point presentation.

After hours must be the congressional version of facebook commentary.
