Master 1790 Tyler, TX | Subject: Team Edward or Team Jacob?? I'm surprised there isn't a thread on New Moon yet, so what the heck, I'll start it! I went to see the movie on Saturday with my 12 year old and her friend. I think I was the only father there amongst the hundreds of pre-teen girls, teen girls, and a surprising number of young and not-so-young women! Lots of oohs and ahs when Jacob takes off his shirt! I know that these movies are for teenagers but I can't believe these girls are so vapid to like this crap. I am all for fun, stupid movies but the first one was so bad - I won't be the nice uncle again! |

Subject: RE: Team Edward or Team Jacob?? trishie - 2009-11-23 4:56 PM and then there's jacob.. who is 17. and smokin'.. and makes me feel like a pervert. Yup. Nearly pushed myself through the TV screen in excitement when I saw the previews. Then I read online that he's a baby...and felt as though I must take a shower for a long, long time...Stupid boy. He does not look like a boy from the waist down...mmmglgmggmglg.... Haven't seen New Moon, haven't read any of the books. Saw the first movie On Demand one night when I was bored, so I didn't have to experience the shame of renting it in public. I kind of enjoyed it - mindless teeny-bopper drama/romance with hot dudes. I'll rent this one when it's out on DVD. |

Regular 152 | Subject: RE: Team Edward or Team Jacob?? I'm not surprised that guys are baffled by the Twilight love fest, but I'm relieved to know some adult women are, too. I was beginning to worry about myself. I wanted to be a part of this literary phenomenom (just as I was for Harry Potter -- fabulous reading) so I read the books (am a kiddie librarian) but found them to be Danielle Steele for teenagers (and I loathe DS). Everyone I know is a huge fan of the books. I feel kinda left out but somehow it's my own fault. I .... just .... don't .... get .... it!!!! |

I've only seen the commercials and will only watch the movie if there is nothing else on in the future and it is on cable and I've pulled all my fingernails out, BUT....I have a question, based on the commercials. Werewolf dude is wearing pants. Dude turns into Werewolf. Pants are gone. WTF? Is that like Vampires who "sparkle" in the sunshine? Sigh....BRING BACK BUFFY! ;-) |

Extreme Veteran 310 | Subject: RE: Team Edward or Team Jacob?? I had to eat my words on this one. I made fun of my friends, laughed at them even, for reading the books and going to the movie. Then I watched Twilight and thought, that was not so bad, I'll try the books. Five days later I had read all four books. Holy 13 year old. It was fun though. I'm probably on team Edward. He's way better in the books. And I agree with mmrocker about the movie Jasper. He looks constipated. |

I wish they had chosen someone else for Edward's character. I think Jacob is a total hottie in the movie. His chest and abs are delicious! PS- I am Jbrashear's girlfriend. And yes, I also said he was yummy. Edited by KSH 2009-11-24 11:18 AM |

Well I am 35+ but I'm not a Mom. It's a nice love story with some action thrown in here and there. And for the people (although not me) who are religious and don't like reading about sex in books- this is a good series for them. Some adults don't want adult themed books. Gosh, my 27 year old sister (who is a Mom and VERY religious) read the BACK of one of the books and said it was too raunchy for her to read. *Shrug* |

The series is written by a Mormon woman and the whole vampire thing with Edward not eating humans and such and wrestling with self-control is a metaphor for chastity. Not THAT scandalous.

In the still-to-be-written next novel in the series, he's the hunter dressed in flannel and blaze orange who puts a nice shiny silver slug through them both so us guys can get our wives back. Silver bullets don't work on these vampires. You have to tear them apart and set them on fire ... sheesh ... Anyway, i've read 3 of the 4 books and haven't seen either of the movies - personally, it's obvious from my take on them that I am no longer a teenager. I like Jacob marginally better but mostly I want to yell at Bella about this stupid movie love stuff. I do really like the creativity - the vampires and updated mythology (doesn't just go with what's always been done with them) and the werewolves. I thought that was good. But they are nowhere near the caliber of Harry Potter. |

I'll be seeing it Wed night with my 14-year old and her friend. They already saw it once of course, but that's not nearly enough. I told my daughter I was going to get a Twilight Dad shirt or something stuupid like that, and she was horrified. Not too horrified though because I'm being cool enough to take her and her friend to see it. |
