How much does (or did) the Tooth Fairy (if you do this) pay per tooth on average at your house?

ETA - well I screwed up the poll.  Just post your payouts.

Our payouts - $1.00 / tooth except for the 1st one.  Those were $5.00.

I put clothes on their back, food on their plates, and a roof over their head. With the economy as it is, they're lucky they get fed.

:p I keed. We do $1 a tooth, but we also have an allowance in place for the big one, so she's cool with that. She's also 7, so I don't know what the heck she does with her money other than save it anyway.

I got a dollar per tooth.  The coolest one was a molar where I got my first silver dollar.

Before my first started losing teeth I got a stack of $1 coins in preparation. He never once put a tooth under his pillow, he kept them all. Then when my second started losing teeth I was hoping she'd put them under her pillow, but nope. My kids have little boxes full of teeth, and I have a little box full of dollars.

We do $1 per tooth except the one time the tooth fairy ummm forgot so that time she left $2.

We started with silver dollars and Sacagawea dollars but my daughters asked why they weren't getting REAL dollars!  So now we ask what they would like the tooth fairy to bring and it's usually 'paper dollars'.  The ones currently losing teeth are 6 and 7 and still believe.

I try to give out special coins that are not used in everyday settings. Generally no more than $2 per tooth.

Silver dollars

New presidential gold dollars

Kennedy fifty cent coins

Sacagawea dollar coins

$2 dollar bill

$5 per tooth.  However with the first tooth the boy tooth fairy and girl tooth fairy visit and leave $5 each.  I had to explain this since my son lost his first and my daughter was asking about a girl tooth fairy wearing pink with fancy shoes and a tiara.  I just couldn't tell her some Listerine smelling dude was coming to her room to put stuff under her pillow

Yep, our tooth fairy pays more in "guilt" money.  It's happened twice.

I don't have any kids. But, I have a friend of mine that gives her girls $10 a tooth. If I loose any of my teeth I have a deal with her kids that I give it to them and we split the profits .

We don't give money. Instead our son found, under his pillow, a personal voucher from the tooth-fairy to be redeemed for the book of his choice (the tooth-fairy explains that she has made an "arraignment" with his parents). So the next day we would all go to the bookstore, he could choose what he wanted, and then hand us the voucher and get the book.

Obviously more expensive then the normal, but we don't give money to the kids, and we want to develop their interest in reading. Thank god he stopped losing teeth....

We will follow this method when the twins start losing teeth.

I had two wisdom teeth cut out of my head and I had to PAY $300+ (after insurance)!  Sucks being a grown-up.

We would get $1 per tooth from the tooth fairy...usually in coins.

$1.00 per tooth, unless it had to be pulled by the DDS or ortho, then $2.00.  We've had some frantic scrambles when the fairy forgot!!

Let me start by saying that it is never a good idea for the tooth fairy to have a gin and tonic before trying to remember to visit...

When the tooth fairy remembers, the kids get:

1 50 cent piece
1 quarter
1 dime
1 nickel
1 penny

(we read this amount in a story shortly before daughter #1 lost her first tooth - seemed like a good idea)
