......we have just passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president that also hasn't read it and who smokes and drinks too much, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke.

What could possibly go wrong????

If it weren't true, I'd find that hilarious.

That's actually quite brilliant, flyboy. Did you write that? If so, kudos.

What are you insinuating? I don't get it.

BTW, I've never herd that President Obama drinks too much. Where did that come from? As far as smoking to much I suppose you could argue that any smoking at all is too much so I'll concede that point.

Techinally, at 5'06'' I'm obese at 215 lbs, but I'm also an Ironman, go figure.

As I understand it, members of Congress and their staffs* are required to purchase insurance through the exchanges created under the bill.

So, *almost* true.

* Staffers who work for committees or congressional offices (like, staffers for the judiciary committee or staffers for the Speaker of the House) are EXEMPT from the exchanges and will stay on the health plan provided by the government.  source:

Nope, can't take the credit for it.  I received it in an email this morning and just had to pass it along.

Here's a link for you.  Somewhat amusing that this came from the UK instead of from a source in the US.

Brilliant. I can make up a quote with gross generalizations and falsehoods and get tons of laughs too, I bet, me being a writer and all.

especially amusing given that the Daily Mail is considered a tabloid in the UK.

moderation in alcohol consumption is, i believe, a standard recommendation given at physicals. it does not imply that the person is over-consuming.

but if you got it in an email, it must be true. while we're on the topic, me and this former prince have some money in nigeria that we need help moving.

Oh good googly moogly.

It's satire. Maybe not good satire, but that's what it is. Nitpicking it to pieces doesn't really mean a whole lot.

OK. But I still didn't see where it said that the President is a heavy drinker. It said that it was recommend that he consume alcohol in moderation. My doc recommends the same thing to me when I see him. It does not mean I drink too much, he's just offering his medical advice. So again, where did that come from?
Over all, I thought the article was complementary of the Presidents health.

Wow...folks...lighten up.  Kind of typical in general for the left's response though seems to me.  It's perfectly fine, even honorable, to ridicule a conservative or Republican.  However when a little irony and satire is pointed in the direction of a liberal or Democrat, run for cover, the flame throwers are coming out.

For the record, I added the "drinks too much" line above; perhaps I should have added a "might" preceding that.  The rest was sent to me as an only partially tongue in cheek question.  And although the statements are generalizations, they make a pretty good point.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Let's see, 8 "facts" in the original statement, I question 1 of them (in a courteous manner, I thought) and and I'm over-reacting. You're right sir, I'm being unreasonable.

That is all.
