Master 2490 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I'm visiting Wilmington and it's inspiring me to get a thread started for B2B 2011... Who's in? I've raced B2B the last three years - Two Halfs and the Full last year, and my experience has been really positive. There's been a good BT turnout for these races in the past... Good luck to all with your training! |

You bet..I didn't have the day I wanted this year, but even without the payback motivator I'd probably be registered. I have only good things to say about this race and will probably keep coming back until they won't have me anymore.... |

Trying to persuade a friend to do the run (he has done 2 marathons). Probably can get him to commit to the half. I'm doing IM Louisville 2011, so I'm looking to do B2B solo in 2012. |

Plan to do the full for my first Ironman, I have heard nothing but great things about this race. Cant wait. +1 B2B will be my first 140.6. I've made hotel reservations. I'm waiting to register until after the Ga 26.2 and a spring century. I've done 7 mary's and many century's, so not worried if I can do them, I just want to wait and see if I'm injury free. I've done the YMCA Oly in Wilmington. Fantastic area. |

Kingsland, Georgia | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Planning on doing B2B as my first IM. Based on reviews, seems like a great venue. Haven't signed up yet though... Does it normally sell out? At only 800 slots, seems they would go quick... |

Master 2490 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread General race entry is around 200ppl so far...There are for sure alot of folks who are planning on being there but haven't paid yet(like me!). I'm still kind of in recovery mode from 2010 - Volume is about the same as last January but I've lost, like, 99% of my top end fitness..I have a few road races in the next few weeks and I'm hoping to race my way back. Outdoor ride this morning - only second or third time since B2B'10!! That's a little hard to type..My road bike literally has dust on it. RaceLog is showing 18 BT'ers for B2B'11...AWESOME! |

Regular 79 | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I'm in and signed up! Did the half last year as my first half and will do the full this year as my first full! I LOVED everything about this event last year! Though I have to admit I am curious to see how the run in the dark goes - my better half did the full last year and said that it was quite dangerous at some spots and pitch black! So I will have a headlamp in my run special needs bag! So looking forward to it! And with it being a tad earlier this year than it was last year, I am hoping for a little higher water temps, though I thought it wasn't tooo bad in 2010. Hope to see some BTs there again! |

I was a lazy bum over the winter and am just getting into training again! Wanted to do a marathon end of march, but have to cancel due to a business trip, so have to look for a new marathon! Planning fewer races this year - got engaged and will have my hands full with wedding preps and training! But planning on doing Macon, GA HIM |

Did the sprint there last year and wanna go for the HIM this year. |

Did the sprint there last year and wanna go for the HIM this year. Rock'n'Rollman should be a blast! I'm doing the Bike MS in New Bern, NC the weekend of September 10 and 11. Coach said to plan on doing a 90ish minute run after the ride one of the days. I said OK. ;-) I've done the Breakaway to the Beach ride (Charlotte area to Myrtle Beach) three times -- well, twice on that route and the third time was a only around MB which was uncool so I changed to the New Bern ride. They are back on the Charlotte to Myrtle route now though. That ride is September 24-25. The Charlotte organizers were very very generous with jerseys and other swag! It looks like the Atlanta one is September 17-18 (Bike MS: Cox Atlanta in Pine Mountain, GA). Atlanta to Athens is in May. |

You'll get on the trolley or bus by the Hilton and get dropped off at T1. Once your bike is set up and you've dropped off your transition bags, you'll get on another trolley for the ride to the swim start. Your T2 bag will be waiting for you when you get off your bike at the Battleship parking lot... Good luck with your training.. |

I have signed up for trolley but am a little anxious about the logistics of getting to the swim start. We're staying right by the Hilton where the trolley loads. Anyone with insight on this? It's my first Iron distance too, but I did the half at B2B last year, so I know the logistics. As said before, the trolleys take you where you need to get and you can't miss them! If you are in the Hilton transportation is no issue for you at all. The only thing that I found a little annoying was the long lines and waiting times for the ferry to get over from the finish line to the Hilton again. But if you take the other option - the shuttle bus - that is no biggy. Oh and if you ask me, it is worthwhile coming a few days early to swim in the channel and be prepared for the cold water Plus - Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach are two cute little towns! Good luck training! |
