Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() NAME: BamaDC / Mark My quick increase in running volume lead to some overuse injuries. This caused me to start attending spinning classes. The teachers were all cyclist and they took my under their wings and I started cycling. And I swam competitively until the 9th grade, so what the heck… I’ll do a triathlon. I did a few races in 06, nothing that special… well that’s another topic. I didn’t race any tris in 07, because we had our first child and it was my last year of Professional School. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'd love to re-up and stay in this group. It's been great so far, so why leave? Name: Robert It started with a PR on a 10mi in Jan & a half marathon in Feb. Then unfortunately, due to some work related scheduling I had to drop races in March and April, but it looks like they'll come back pretty quick. I'm looking at a 5k swim, Buster Britton Sprint Tri, Chattanooga Waterfront (maybe), Rocketman Olympic Tri, Air Force half marathon (maybe), 1st full marathon, and a 10k. I'm setting up the Rocketman and full marathon as an A race, so they're definitely circled. I like the looks of the Atomic Man Half Ironman in Sept but it conflicts with the possible air force half and possibly the full marathon. Either way, here's to another run of the mentor group! |

If you need a earlier HIM, there is one in Nashville on September 10. Nashvegas! I may do it and AtomicMan. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() What's on everyone's schedule today? I've got a 3000 yard swim and some bike intervals at .95 FTP. |

Titleloops is in for a surprise when he finds out this part of the course in NOLA has been added this year... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() BamaDC - 2011-04-12 8:48 AM What's on everyone's schedule today? I've got a 3000 yard swim and some bike intervals at .95 FTP. 2k fast swim (maybe see if I can hold 100s on 1:20 this time - or maybe not ;-) ). 45 minute Jorge inspired pukefest on trainer. Oh, and I'm back!
About me: In Bham, Al. I flog myself to the tune of about an hour a day doing this stuff. Next up is a 3.3 mile OWS. Should be awesome. Edited by sand101 2011-04-12 8:59 AM |

I did 40 minutes on the bike this morning which included 4x4mins (3:20 at 75% and then 20 sec all out). A lot more brutal then I expected.
So far I really like the plan I have from Jorge. The swimming seems about right and the bike workouts (while shorter then I was doing last year) are really tough. The run volume is too low but he's helping me adjust it upward.

Gonna need to change my pacing strategy!
BTW, do you think Abita and Hurricanes are a good nutrition and hydration strategy? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() As promised. NAME: mashmead / Mike I found tris after my wife and I moved from Dallas, TX to Jackson, MS. I had played about 10 years of good rugby (none of that beer drinking stuff, although there was a fair amount of it). I had no intention of playing when we moved (worn out, burnt out and beat up) but had nothing to fill the gap either. So I ran some. Then I swam some. Then I noticed I was 2/3 of the way to a triathlon so got in touch with a friend for some advice. He introduced me to BT, I got a bike and signed up for a local super sprint. Fast forward to the end of the year and I had completed 3 sprints and an oly and somehow found the podium for all but the first race. Last weekend I completed my first century ride and I’ve tentatively put Nashvegas HIM on my schedule for this year. But of course will need the help of a mentor group to pull it off. FAMILY STATUS: Married, no kids, 1 dog. My wife is a fellow BTer (Mary A) and started racing midway through last season.

So based on that, how dangerous would it be to register for NashVegas Sept 5 knowing Marine Corp is Oct 30, and MCM is the A race? Going realistically, the AF half is probably not going to happen. I'd like to, and another racing partner has already signed up, but I doubt I'll go that crazy. Thoughts? |

First year, and found 2 podiums? That's awesome. I've found 1 podium once in my life and it was probably the slowest 5k ever run...! Congrats! |

This AM was a 60 min run mostly spent in z1, still recovering from this weekend. This PM will be a 60 min easy ride. May do it on the trainer if I don't get home from work with enough daylight left. |

Welcome! I'm undecided between Nashvegas and AtomicMan.
