Subject: RE: Anyone been in a Seattle-area lake yet?I finally did it this morning. After a failed attempt on Monday, I went for a swim this morning in my sleeveless wetsuit in Lake Sammamish. Monday Morning, I went to Lake Sammamish state park. I was at the big beach, planning on following the bouy line. The water was nasty, the beach was nasty, the swim area was nasty, and it was starting to rain. There was a lot working against me. I finally got out to my waist, but I buttercupped out of it. It baffled me that there was a race there on Saturday. The water was freezing. This morning, I sucked it up. I drove from Issaquah with my AC on to start cooling my body down. I got to Idylwood Park (It is AMAZING how much better this park is maintained), and sucked it up and got in...and after a minute or two, I was fine. It was great. I wasn't planning on swimming but just getting submerged. After a minute or two, I decided to swim the bouys that mark no-boats. It ended up being about 1/3 of a mile. It was a big triumph this morning! I am no longer afraid of the cold water. My wetsuit (albeit sleeveless) worked great! I am ready to do my 1 mile open water swim in Lake Sammamish from Idylwood park! Edited by lifejustice 2011-06-09 11:06 AM
