Comments: Awesome course for beginners or those looking to set a PB. This course was flat compared to almost all the tris out there in NC minus a few of the beach tris. Went out medium hard for the first 1/2 mile until the people started to thin a bit. Passed a good 40 people here. Didn't lose ground until around mile 3 where I started to draw back the pace. Got passed by about 10-15 by mile 5. Kicked the last mile and got back 2-3 more spots. I was hurting by the finish line, but that's the point I suppose. What would you do differently?: There's some incredible runners out there. I gotta get the pace down. Organized run plan would help draw out some speed. Post race
Warm down: Bent over after the finish for about a min to recover then headed back on the course and found my buddy Steve. Hobbled back to the start. Pounded 3 Krispy Kreme donuts. MMMmmmmmm. Stayed for awards ceremony. Missed podium spot by 1 min...3 spots. Finished 6 of 18 in AG and 48 of 346 What limited your ability to perform faster: Run muscular endurance Event comments: Excellent race. Very well organized. Live band. There was a 30k going on as well here. If you're in the NC area and can't find a mostly flat course to run, this is your race! It was amazing to see some of the 30k'ers come in at the 2 hour mark. Aside from being a bit hot, it was a GREAT race. Last updated: 2005-09-24 12:00 AM

LOL! Decided to do this race yesterday with a former boss of mine. Drove out with Steve (former boss) and looked at all the sweet eye candy. Didn't eat any special foods or anything. Its been quite some time since I just did a one event race. Holy crap...I only had to pack a race belt and hydration/nutrition. No transition area to set up. It felt really weird.
I overslept a bit and forgot a watch, so I have no splits.
Gelled 40 mins prior, chased with a bunch of water. Ran about a mile at an easy pace.
