Did anyone else watch Grey's Anatomy last night?  They had a patient on the show who said he  "runs" triathlons.  Grrrrrrrr...I don't know why that irritates me so much.  To make it even worse, it was said no less then three times.  It seems like such an obvious error that someone should have caught it.

Maybe he was a race director?

What do you say? That you "do" triathlons? That you swim/bike/run triathlons?

It's hard to fit that he "swims, bikes, runs" triathlons. Maybe we should make up a new word that means all three. How about I swikun a tri? At least they got across the spirit of a triathlete, the fact that he always had hope!

Would that make us swikunners?

I think it would be safe to say that you Compete or Race in Triathlons.

Hey Kim, I love that show! I noticed that he said that as well.. kinda weird. Apparently they didn't do too much research.. Makes me wonder if the medical jargon they throw around is accurate, also.

I love Grey's Anatomy, and, yes, I noticed that too. It kind of annoyed me, because Triathlons are really being misrepreseneted on TV these days.

Other places of picked up on tri references...

That car commercial (Kia Amanti, I think), where there's a group of triathletes standing on an empty beach, stretching, apparently waiting for the start of the race, and then this guy just gets on a loud speaker and equates those champions who swim, bike, run to those champions who purchase a Kia Amanti...or something like that...I never paid attention to the message. I hated that the beach looks nothing like a tri start - just a bunch of people in swim caps w/ goggles stretching on an empty beach - no spectators, buoys or lifeguards in the water, race coordinators, etc., etc. Let's say it looked nothing like any of the tris I've done.

On Friday, I caught that show, "Ghost Whisperer" (I swear, I do have a life), and the "ghost" had died in a triathlon. As he was recounting his tri, he mentioned 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, etc....apparently, he was doing an Iron Man. Well, they did a flashback to the race - he certainly wasn't on a tri bike, possibly not even a road bike (but I can't confirm that), and a handful of other thinks that are inconsistent with a triathlon that I don't even want to go into.

And, there was also a reference on ER last year to triathlons - Carter's sorta girlfriend at the time, the one who worked in psych, was training for one. But, then a few episodes later, she said she was training for a marathon...apparently the had forgotten what they wrote into the script a while back .

I thought along the same lines, although I like "participate or compete in ..."

Yep, it would. After all the talk, I like compete. At least that's the goal anyway. Race is just too fast a word for me...

I really like the show but I gotta say I don't like the actress who plays Dr. Grey all that much.  There is something about the way she talks that annoys me.

On a related note, did anyone see Entertainment Tonight this evening?  There was a story about some actor who was in the Hawaii Ironman.  I didn't catch the story.  Just wondering if it was a decent reporting job or did they say he "ran the tri-ath-a-lon"?

I kind of totally disagree. McDreamy needs to make nice with his satan-spouse and head east. That way George can get a shot. Oh, and Izzy cleans up nicely, doesn't she?

OK, I have no life.
