I love Grey's Anatomy, and, yes, I noticed that too. It kind of annoyed me, because Triathlons are really being misrepreseneted on TV these days.
Other places of picked up on tri references...
That car commercial
(Kia Amanti, I think
), where there's a group of triathletes standing on an empty beach, stretching, apparently waiting for the start of the race, and then this guy just gets on a loud speaker and equates those champions who swim, bike, run to those champions who purchase a Kia Amanti...or something like that...I never paid attention to the message. I hated that the beach looks nothing like a tri start - just a bunch of people in swim caps w/ goggles stretching on an empty beach - no spectators, buoys or lifeguards in the water, race coordinators, etc., etc. Let's say it looked nothing like any of the tris I've done.
On Friday, I caught that show, "Ghost Whisperer"
(I swear, I do have a life
), and the "ghost" had died in a triathlon. As he was recounting his tri, he mentioned 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, etc....apparently, he was doing an Iron Man. Well, they did a flashback to the race - he certainly wasn't on a tri bike, possibly not even a road bike
(but I can't confirm that
), and a handful of other thinks that are inconsistent with a triathlon that I don't even want to go into.
And, there was also a reference on ER last year to triathlons - Carter's sorta girlfriend at the time, the one who worked in psych, was training for one. But, then a few episodes later, she said she was training for a marathon...apparently the had forgotten what they wrote into the script a while back
