Subject: RE: Ithaca, NYIthaca is great. Small town but very diverse population due to Cornell and Itahca College. You better be a liberal, though. And like lake-effect snow. It is pretty isloated, too. That whole area is very rural. I grew up about 45 mintues away, and yes it is very, very beautiful but the winters totally suck. Totally. I would live there. The food is great. The people are great. The waterfalls and gorges are great. But you will miss out on the big city things. The nearest decent mall is Carousel Mall in Syracuse which is a 1:30 drive roughly. And that doesn't mean a Nordstroms or Neimans. There is a mall in Ithaca but it is small. One of the best things about living up there is going to Friendly's and ordering a Fribble. Just cuz that's the funniest word ever. Or going to the Commons food court and choosing between pizza, great indian food, or a vegan cheeseburger. Or the Moosewood. I went to bike shop up by Cornell last time I was there and they seemed pretty knowledgeable. That area of NY if FULL of cyclists. PM me if you want to talk about it some more. Jess |
