Resident Curmudgeon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ...or have I just convinced myself? Given my age, I consider myself a child of the television age, born with the media, seen a lot of shows, the good and the bad. Admit lately I don't focus too much on TV, with life and training and internet and all life's distractions it's difficult, and not really desirable to sit and concentrate for an hour, nor are there many shows worth giving up that hour for. I have been a casual fan of lost since Episode 2 (missed 1, never caught it until this week), admit that sometimes it's just background noise while I do other things, however... This week I borrowed a friend's DVD of season 1, and I am amazed at how well done the show really is. Great story line(s), though God knows where they're headed. Suberb, fully drawn characters. Scenes that evoke great emotion without becoming maudlin, excellent production values, fantastic acting, and so on and so on. Is this the best show of the decade, or am I just a blustering fan? And how long can it continue? Can we talk? You guys are going to lose me to www.thefuselage.com. Edited by the bear 2005-11-21 3:55 PM |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm with ya bruthah. I find it all very entertaining. Very well written and presented. Yes, I would agree one of the best shows I've seen this decade (Seinfeld was in the 90's, right?). I will say I am not a fan of ANY of the reality shows, so that clouds my answer. Nothing wrong with them...just not for me. Great acting from folks I'd otherwise never seen before. I am a bit worried about where they can possibly head with the whole thing, but I am on that show like a bear on a salmon (or is it like a bear on a cold beer?) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes. Its the only show I make sure to watch. I like it because its smart but its also very entertaining. That website is cool too. Lots of interesting stuff that I would never have picked up on or known about otherwise. It almost feels like a short movie with the quality production, story lines, characters, acting... |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I LOVE that show! Total addict. I had to go out and buy Season 1 so I could make sure I didn't miss anything! On the extra disc of the season discs....they mention that they have enough of a storyline for 5-6 seasons! woo hoo! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Awesome show! I'm going to have to buy season 2 on disc, though, because I can't seem to glue my butt to the couch long enough to watch it every week. |

I'm going to have to buy season 2 on disc, though, because I can't seem to glue my butt to the couch long enough to watch it every week. My problem too, Steph. I'm also going to start taping the episodes so I can watch them (again, if need be) at my convenience. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Taping the shows is a great idea.....I totally missed how Shannon's dad was the one in the accident with Jack's soon to be fiancee, until fromer told me about it. I went back and watched and when they are telling shannon and her stepmom that the dad is dead, Jack walks right by....how did I miss that? But anyway, it's cool to have the ability! |

There are several, well-visited websites out there that only seek to test your powers of observation. Of course, there are folks there that see what isn't there. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Whoa...I didn't catch that!!! I love how they inter-twine these stories. Didn't Jack make a decision to work on his future wife vs. the other victim? At the time, I didn't know that other victim was Shannon's father. That makes it even more interesting... |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Last season, where did Ethan Rom come from? and why did he kidnap that pg girl? Ethan was already on the island....I assume he is part of the "others" but as to why he kidnapped Claire (other than the fact that she was pregnant) I have no idea! Wednesdays are awesome! It does amaze me how much detail goes into the show. LOTS of detail |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wonder what Jack's relationship is with Ana Lousia? I know they met in the airport bar prior to the flight. Last nights episode made you think something else was there. Surely he wouldn't remember her name from a 1 minute encounter prior to boarding the plane. Plus havn't they been on the island for over 50 days now? |
![]() ![]() |
Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's funny, I've never watched a whole episode, and now it's too late. I see the first 2 minutes and I think "How can there be new people when there was a plane crash?" and "how does the 1 guy manage to stay fat?". |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good points but you have to remember that even though the show is in its second season, they have only been on the island for around 50 days. Plus they ate airplane food for a few days and now its fruit and fish. Then they got a bunch of canned food from the silo. I guess he might have lost 20 -30 lbs and you probably couldnt tell. He is pretty good size. Wow! I must be bored waiting to go to my relatives for dinner. Sitting here answering why a fat guy is still fat when the question should be: How did they survive a plane crash from 20,000 feet? |

Enkidu's friend - Answer was: Gilgamesh. Anybody know what the meaning is in that? There has to be one? They don't show things for nothing. Mel |

Did anybody catch the emphasis on #42 on Locke's crossword puzzle. Enkidu's friend - Answer was: Gilgamesh. Glad you reminded me. Here's a quick google: Enkidu, the Mesopotamian prototype for the Natural Man, the Lord of the Forests and Wild Life who is fundamentally one with Nature, is perhaps one of the most enduring archetypes of the human psyche, but whose origin is generally not traced as far back as Mesopotamia. This is what we are doing now, because who can tell how many times the story of the Wondrous Stranger whose Strength is Unmatched and is captivated by the Transcendent Feminine has been retold and in what ways? Countless times, but Enkidu and Shamhat were the first, and after him them came all the others, including Tarzan and Jane, to name one of the most popular encounters of this kind. We meet Enkidu first in the Epic of Gilgamesh, and learn that he was created to be Gilgamesh´s equal and Soul Brother, so that the young, selfish, brutish and proud king of Uruk could know the meaning of friendship, trust, courage and loyalty to become a wholer being. Enkidu´s coming into Gilgamesh´s life is announced by the dreams of Ninsun, Gilgamesh´s mother, who states that Enkidu will be "a strong companion, the one who helps a friend in need". Anybody know what the meaning is in that? There has to be one? They don't show things for nothing. Mel I have a friend who is more into Lost than |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Another good site for LOST http://www.oceanicflight815.com/ click on the theory board for threads. The confession conversation between Ana Luca and Sayaed....I thought in an earlier episode that he said he as just a communications guy in the Iraqi army, but than last nite he said he did things to people that still hears their cries in his head? Or something like that.... So, He might have been a baddy bad guy in Saddams regime? Happy reunions last nite at the end. |

Or something like that.... So, He might have been a baddy bad guy in Saddams regime? Dude, do you even watch the show? We know from flashbacks that Sayid's duties as "communications officer" included interogation through torture. He was assigned to interrogate Nadia (childhood friend and love interest?) and ultimately to execute her, but instead helped her escape. We also know that he tortured Sawyer when the survivors thought he was hiding Shannon's inhaler. This is what he is referring to in his conversation with Ana Lucia. |
