The Original 7834 Raleigh/Durham | Subject: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? I just realized that I have a strange habit. When I use cash to purchase something I always feel entailed to use change in my transaction so that I don't have as many pennies. Don't know why- I just do. But the weird part- if my total is $9.33, if I don't have 33 cents, I'll give like a $10.03, so that I'll get a nickel and 2 pennies. Which leads to me having one less penny than before, (because I originally had 3) therefore I win! It's like a game to me- to end up with less number of pennies after a transaction than before. Anyone else do weird things?? |

Queen BTich 12411 , | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? I do that too Janelle; maybe not that extreme but I like to use change when I can so there is less in my coin purse (that thing fills up!). Welshy says its a girl thing, we had a discussion about it after I kept trying to give him change to make his transactions even..."here, you need 12 cents?!" Other wierd habits? Umm...I hate to shave my legs. Don't do it that often...lol. I need more time, I know I have some though. |

Champion 5615 | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? Okay. Here's mine: Whenever I get out of the shower, I lower my towel a bit on the floor, step out onto it, and dry my feet like a doormat. My wife absolutely hates wet footprints on the bathroom floor. She taught me that trick to make sure my feet are dry before walking through the bathroom. I know, I know; The vision is horrible; but not much worse than Comet's Saskwatch legs. |

Anyone else do weird things?? Um, not to be too picky, but you SHOULD have 3 less pennies. Work through the pesky mathematics, and you should get 70 cents change. Over in OZ, they'd round up/down to the nearest nickel. I usually try to work the transaction to minimize the coins exchanged. In your example, I'd probably shoot for $9.35, exchanging a quarter and dime for two pennies rather than exact change (giving a quarter, nickel, and 3 pennies). For fun and entertainment, I sometimes tally my purchases in my head, to the penny, including tax (2 different rates). I've surprised some store clerks by placing the exact amount on the conveyor before they ring it up. Swimming laps in high school, I'd figure the simplest fraction. 1/90, 1/45, 1/30, 2/45, 1/18... As my wife would say, "once a geek, always a geek" |

Anyone else do weird things?? I also do the loose change thing. Who wants a pocket full of coins? I even take it further and try to get rid of smaller bills. For some reason I like to have my currency in the lowest number of individual units possible. I know... weird. Other things I do:
That's all I can think of at the moment. I'll have to mention this thread to my wife. I'm sure she'll remind me of many more quirks I possess. |

Elite 3650 Laurium, MI | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? i've got you all beat. I've been known to whip out the credit card for a $1.76 just to avoid getting change. Then I will go to the bank for a $10 roll of quarters to do laundry. The one thing that drives my fiance crazy.... I have to have the kitchen clean BEFORE I eat. Everything I used to cook needs to be clean, dry and put away. And my knives get cleaned as they are used. Doesn't matter what I'm doing. Once I'm done with a knife, I wash it and put it back in the block. I also double clutch all my downshifts in my truck, even when I don't have to. |

Champion 6285 Beautiful Sonoma County | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? When I eat M&Ms, I have to eat them one at a time, and will often pour them out on the table or desk and line them up in color groups, and then eat them in color order. But I don't really like M&Ms that much anymore. All my bills in my wallet have to be lined up facing the same direction, with all the crimped corners uncrimped, and preferably in order of denomination. I don't shower in the morning, but prefer to take a bath at night before bed. I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, and then will grudgingly forego my evening bath. I have lots of OCD stuff I could list: how my towels have to be folded just so, and then I pair them up by color and style, and other stuff like that. |

Regular 82 Chicago, IL | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? Wow. Those are pretty strange. Well, I have a collection of thermal travel tumblers, all probably can hold 10-12 ounzes of fluid. No matter what I'm taking with me in the morning (coffee, chai tea, water...), it always has to be full, no matter how much I know I'll never drink it all. |

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? I try not to step on the expansion joint cracks in the cement floor at work. I always try to get as much change as possible from a purchase, paying for 1.23 item with a $5 bill. At the end of the day I put all the change and every bill less than $5 in a giant coffee can. When it's full I drag it to the bank and put it in my savings account. It sounds like a lot, but I use my debit card for so much that I really don't use cash very often. I always split my muffin in half horizontally, eat the bottom half first, then save the crispy top half for last. If I want to sit on the love seat and snuggle and have fun with my sweetie, I always have to be on her left side...I can't work the other way around. |

Master 2136 A Prairie Home | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? Like Janelle, I too like to use my change when I buy things, in order to keep my wallet light. One weird habit that I can come up with now: I always wrap a paper napkin around a sandwich/burrito/burger when I eat one. I don't like to touch the bun with my bare hand. |

The Original 7834 Raleigh/Durham | Subject: RE: Strange Habits- what are some of yours? I cannot go without using a straw at restaurants. I never drink out of the glass. Another thing is that when I unwrap my straw, I have to tie it in a knot and pull it to get it to break. Not sure why- I just always do that. Edited by runnergirl29 2005-11-30 8:12 AM |

I don't like to touch the bun with my bare hand. LOL this sounds like my wife's neice, only she's worse. If she has potatoes, peas, meat, or whatever on her dinner plate, all the food must remain separate...nothing can touch. If the peas make contact with the potatoes or anything like that, the whole meal is off and she won't eat anything. Easiest way for her is to have each food on a separate dish. |

Your wife's neice and I need to go out to dinner sometime, because I am the same way! I HATE it when my foods mix. Also, when I eat a plate of food, I eat only all of one thing at one time, and then move to the next. It's not like I take a nibble of a hamburger, then go for some fries, back to the burger, some veggies, etc. I always eat the fries until they're finished, then work on the veggies, and then the burger. OK, here's a real one...I am not obsessive compulsive (really) in other ways, but it drives me insane when I see a pair of shoes laying around with the laces still tied. How does the fam like the yankz?? aaargh...see, that makes no SENSE! When are you likely to be a bit rushed and in a hurry? When you are RETURNING HOME? OF COURSE NOT! When you are leaving home, you will be more rushed and therefore it is imperitive that you take the steps necessary to minimize effort and extra steps. And, don't tell me you plan to ruin your nice running shoes by just jamming your feet back in there and wrecking the heel portion of the shoe (places palms up and closes eyes until heart rate returns to normal). Not surprisingly, my family quickly embraced the yankz. Now if only they could get the @#$%!@# toilet paper right!!! And, would it kill somebody to throw away their empty juiceboxes? Did anyone ever hear of hanging up their coat? Whose backpack is this in the middle of the floor? Why do I have to do everything myself?!!! aaaahhhh. (redfaced and faints to the floor.) |
