Subject: My birthday
It's my birthday, but this isn't an "all about me, everybody say happy b-day" thread (not that there's anything wrong with those threads), I just wanted to tell everybody how great my girls are.

So I go to work early so I can leave early and pick Nola up from school in the afternoon. Because of this, the girls are never up when I leave. But this morning, when I came out of the shower and into the bedroom at something before 6am, Nola and Amy jump up from under the covers and yell "happy birthday." So that's awesome, just to see them up and smiling before I go to work. But then there are also these two big packages. So at a few minutes before 6,  Nola's helping me unwrap birthday presents. How cool is that? And what do I get? A new wind trainer and wheel block!

So that's cool by itself, but even cooler that I was totally not expecting it. About a month ago, I noticed that the mag unit of my old trainer had broken, and mentioned it to Amy in passing that I'd probably be looking for a new (old) one on e-bay. Never mentioned it again, and here she and Nola have gotten me a brand spanking-new Cycleops trainer (with Spinervals DVD!).

I'm a lucky boy.

How Old? Did you move up an age group? I have 3 kids myself and there are always those 'special moments' that surprise you every now and then. Just think - they care enough to surprise in the wee hours with something you will be totally jacked about. Not only that, it sounds to me like you're quite the role model to your kids which I firmly believe will influence children to adopt the active lifestyle in the end (if not already). Happy B-day! I'm sure you'll put the new gifts to great use.

I'm 39, so yes indeed, because of USAT's new AG rule, I did move up. 40-44. Uggh.

So I'm thinking the Mountaineers can take Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Close game but WVU wins 24-21.

We held off for almost 9 years, and while I don't regret it for a second, I will say that the little girl is the best thing ever.

Daughters are the best.  Like when they call you up after they are grown to ask you how to solve an equation or tell them what a word is, like you still know everything.

Happy  40th birthday.  Its a good year.

Daughter's do rule, but only USAT says I'm 40, dammit!

Yeah, after I wrote that, I realized that I had misread the sentence.  39 is a good year too.
