My boyfriend asked me to marry him on Sunday night ( of course I said yes), so we're both excited and happy. Had to take my ring to get it sized last night, its going to take over 2 weeks! I was disappointed. I like looking at it

Great advice! My DH and I eloped and I have zero regrets! We spent a total of $1000.00 and that included airfare!

Excellent idea! I would register at a tri store! Maybe you could set up a racing account for people to give money to (like registering for a honeymoon, but different).

Some friends of ours registered at REI when they got engaged. Great idea! Why not get the happy couple something they'll use together? Is your fiance' a tri-guy??

After spending 10's of thousands of dollars and countless migraines and fights, I cannot agree with that statement more... Go to Vegas.  The people you want to be there will find a way to be there and the one's you don't will still buy you presents.

Congratulations!!! I completely sympathize with you about the ring - I put off taking mine in to get sized for about 2 weeks because I didn't want to be without it.  I changed my mind when it fell off.

Enjoy the wedding planning, but don't stress out too much.

Congratulations!  As someone in the middle of wedding planning, I definitely agree with all the elope comments!  If only the deposits weren't down...

But seriously, don't stress, remember that it is YOUR (and your fiance's) wedding, and be prepared for all family members to suddenly become insane.  I didn't believe people when they told me that last part, but it sure has come true.

And most of all, enjoy it!

Enjoy the time - it will fly! And no matter what happens - crazy family, crazy bridesmaids, crazy stuff - at the end, the only thing that really matters is that you're together. Congrats!

Woohoo! I definitely third (or fourth or whatever) the elope thing. Amy and I ran away and got married on the beach in Sand Diego, in our bear feet. Best decision we ever made. No stress and almost no cost.

insane? you have no idea.

First off CONGRATS!!! I've been through the whole ring sizing thing. I went through great lengths to get her the right size to begin with, then she lost some weight before I could give it to her. When we went to the Jewler to get it resized, he was literally in the process of walking out the door. When they told her she had to leave it at the shop for the weekend she almost started crying and the jewler agreed to stay late to resize it for her.

Then her sister decided to get engaged right before she did. So the day I went to talk to her parents about it, her sister announced to us that she was engaged. We aren't getting married until July 07, but her sister is getting married this August. Well she was going for July 07 but was convinced otherwise. So now we are dealing with planning one wedding while at the same time she is trying to help her sister plan hers (she's maid of honor). It's mass craziness.

The upside is we're getting married in a castle. I'm so pumped.

sorry
