In Chicago (proper) or in the suburbs?

I like that name. She'll be coming from O'Hara and the Sis from the LaCrosse on the train. So maybe a place with shuttle. Downtown I guess or Evanston.

Hotel Burnham is a phenomenal, classy boutique hotel...right across the street from the GIANT Marshall Fields'.  It's awesome. 

What time of year will she be coming? Their is an architectureal tour on the river that I hear is cool, it goes right by my work...Of course any hotel on Mich. ave will be walking distance for shopping galore. If you want to dazzle her with restaurants I could provide some goods ones outside of the Chicago Steak Houses.

Need some more details like when and her likes and dislikes...

Michigan Avenue is a great place to stay and visit in downtown Chicago.  There are tons of restaurants and shopping.

Don't forget the molten chocolate cake and souffle (ask the server to leave the entire tube of whipped cream so that you can put some in the coffee)!

Actually, there are a couple of nice restaurants around that area.

In addition to architecture, Chicago is also famous for its museums. Go to metromix.com for local guides and such.
