Yeah, that 12k time trial was a 34.5+mph average. That's ludicrous speed.

Zabriske will never will a Tour de France. Yes he is the best TT guy in the world, but the mountains are were the tour is won. If any American has a chance it would be Landis.

Or Tom Danielson...in a couple of years.

I remember a guy named Lance that used to not be able to climb. There was also this Hinacapie fellow that was a pure sprinter but then won on Pla-d'Adet.

Hey Jim (or anyone else for that matter) come on over to the Tour De Georgia and lets see who wins the Brasstown Bald stage. I am thinking its either Danielson or Landis, or some no name (i.e Ceaser Grajales in 04) no way Zabriskie wins that stage. And FYI Lance didn't learn how to climb till after cancer and Hincapie has lost some serious weight  to become a better climber. Not saying Zabriskie won't win a Tour (I like the guy) but he is more of a TT/Prolouge type guy.

If it were a 1-day drive from here (say 600 miles), I'd do it.  Dang it's got to be a long way though.  I'm a race junkie and standing on the side of a climb like the Italian tifosi has got to be the coolest thing!!

I have gone to the Brasstown Stage the last two years 04 it was hot 05 it was snowing. Estimated a half million people on the mountain that day! Good times!

Oh and if you are really tough there is a ride around the base of Brasstown the morning of the stage, couple of 18% climbs. You know its steep when the pro's are riding compacts, triples and 12-27 on the back. Some were still doing the figure 8 thing up the last kilometer which is 22%.

His biggest problem is his lack of tactical skills in the peloton.

Is it me or does Floyd Landis look like a giant praying mantis in that funky TT position of his and the green Phonak kit?

LOL!  You nailed it.  I was wondering what that position looked like.  The position should be formally trademarked as "The Praying Mantis" position.  He kicked a$$ though......

And I wasn't implying that Zabriskie is going to WIN the TDF, just that someone from Team CSC will be wearing the yellow in the final stage.

Wanna make a friendly bet on that prediction Smokeater?  Or maybe a bet on who will be standing on the higher platform, team Phonak or CSC.
