Good job to those who have made their March goal and now are moving onto the  April  Solo Swim Callange.  Thanks Steve for keeping -up the spreadsheet.

As the weather get nicer and we ( I sure will be   starting to put more time into biking and running, I am sure that it will be harder to  find the time to get to the pool.  Any comments as to Steve's suggestions in his last post in the the March thread ???

Thanks for starting the April thread, although I think people are still responding to the March thread...  I think we should just finish up in April, and those who make their April goal can be declared "super swimmers."    This has been a fun challenge, but now that the weather is getting nice, I'll want to concentrate on the run/bike more.

That works for me. My monthly swim distances may be dropping off a bit after April though so my opinion is biased.

This thread has been quiet. How's everybody doing???

I've gotten a good bit of swimming in, although I think I'm  behind schedule yardage-wise. Been doing lots of TI drills - time-intensive but slow on the yardage. Hopefully it will pay off one of these days.

I'm at 7800 as of yesterday, so about on pace.  It's hard to swim inside when it's so nice outside!

Is it too late to join? Can you put me down for 100,000? I'm at just under 27,000 now.
I need some motivation to get ready for my 5K swim on June 2nd.

Megan   too late........... 4 months too late.

The challange started with those who completed there swim goal in the Dec. Team swim challange.  Those who joined the SOLO swim challange added 10% more distance to the dec goal for Jan. Meet you goal, add 10% more and move to the next month. I think this might be the last month for the solo challange.  The team challange was fun.  Lets set one up for next month.

If you need a kick in the pants from time to time to keep you focused. Just let me know.

Our new masters coach has everyone doing the same sets.  Were I used to do 3000-3400 m set during the hour I am now down to 1800-2000m.  I try to sneek in a 50 here and there to get the distance up. The first three practices were all stroke development.  free the first day , back then breast.  Tonight its FLY.  This is where I take up rank in the slow lanes.  I swim fly like a brick.   Maybe I just might get the technique right tonight.  At this rate I am going to have a hard time getting in the distance  to make my goal this month.  I still need to get some long swims in on the weekends. But of course not this weekend it`s Easter and the pool is closed.

I think I need a beer.

Oh Darn. I did do the Dec challenge but had to drop out of the solo challenge because of tapering.

A kick in the pants every now and then is appreciated though

Nice swimming BLUE DEVIL.   I`m sitting 3000m off the distance scheduled for the 16th.  I have  swim planned for  tomorrow so I should be sitting right on target by 18:00 hours.

NIce job Kim!

I got in 1500 this AM to put me at 78% in yardage (got my lazy *** out of bed for an early morning swim, no less!).  After a lot of TI drills, hit a new PR for 100yds at 1:42. Slow for some of you fish, but that's incredible for me.

Not a bad start to the week.

Enjoy, everyone!!

And thanks to steve for the excel spreadsheet!

Great Jobh this morning tpetersen!   Keep it up!

As for me -- 4100 yards this morning (UGH) puts me at 23050 yards for the month out of a required 33275  -- so 69% complete with 56% of the month remaining.

This is getting harder every month -- gee -- I wonder why!

Good job in the pool everybody.

Hit my april 16 th goal ( one day late.) Hoping tonight the coach adds on some distance to the swims.  Otherwise I will be staying a few minutes late to get some distance in. It`s really nice out today. My mind is wandering and thinking about getting out on the road with the bike. Still a bit too early in the season  to do the after work bike rides, So I better start thinking about the sweet smell of chlorine, and the dry itchy skin.

I was away at the start of the month and the Easter weekend disrupted some of my planned swims, but I think I'll catch up soon. I hope to start on that with a swim workout this evening. Biking and running commitments are demanding more time now but I'm trying to keep the swimming up through April, at least. Great work on the swimming everyone, and thanks again for the excel sheet Steve!

By the end of the warm up portion of my swim tomorrow, I'll be at the goal yardage of 25,511 by the 23rd.  So I'm 3 days ahead of schedule.!!

10 more days to finish up.  I think I can make it.  (i hope)

All you remaining fish -- keep up the good work.  We all will be growing gills soon!

karris - 2006-04-20 11:42 AM I'm soooo jealous UTTriman!  Great job!

No need to be jealous.  Only at 27500 here -- still got to swim 5775 yds to make goal by the end of the month.   Just a tiny bit ahead of schedule for the April 23rd Milepost!

Did anyone ever tell you the 33,275 yards is a LOT of swimming???????

To all -- KEEP it up -- you've come this far -- don't die yet!  We're all champions!

2750m more needed to make the distance for  april 23 rd.  Should not be an issue , it's going to rain here all weekend.  Just under 7000m needed after that to make the month.  The new swim coach is going to give me some longer swim sets. Up to now I have been doing the same workout as the others in the pool, 1500-1800m , a little on the lite side of what I am used to.

Keep up the good work everybody  one week left.

Mike
