Subject: Last night's brick workout turned into a 5K race with a 3rd place finishSo I got out of work early yesterday and decided to hit the Y for a swim. I have a race Saturday so I figured I would take it easy. I got in a nice slow relaxing 600 meter swim, got changed ( 5 min transition ), and was off on the bike, stopping only for a minute to drop off my backpack of swim gear.
It reached 94 degrees yesterday and stupid me is out on my bike doing the local loop (10 miles ). I did it at an 18 mph pace and feeling good. As I was locking and racking my bike and getting ready to go out for a run, I ran into a guy from my running club. He asked me if I was running the race. "Race ?", I asked as my eyes lit up. Apparently there was a 5K race that was due to start in 25 minutes.
So, Kevin lends me $20 and I sign up for the race. Race time temp. @ 7pm last night was still 91.
The official results haven't posted but I finished in the top 15, possibly top 10 and wound up winning a medal for 3rd place in the 20-29 age group.
