Ideas for a silly marathon sign...

Expert  1244    New York |  Subject: Ideas for a silly marathon sign...My friends are doing a marathon in a few weeks, but since they're ultras (they refer to marathons as "half ultras") the following week, they're sort of treating the marathon as a training run. I'm going to be down there cheering them on during the race anyway, but they warned me that they didn't want me to tell them go FAST. So I wanted to come up with a silly sign to encourage them NOT to blow up at the race and take it easy. Any suggestions? |

I could even do one that says "26.2 miles! Halfway there!" (Also, no idea what happened with the original post, but what it's SUPPOSED to say is that they have an ultra the week following the marathon). |

I few years ago at the Austin marathon, at about mile 21 or so, was a guy in a yard with a sign that said free beer and ciggs if you quit now. There was a guy in a lawn chair with a carton of cigarettes and a cooler of beer, smoking and drinking away. |
