Extreme Veteran  724  |  Subject: If 140.6 makes you an Ironman, what does 70.3 make you?So I was thinking, my eventual goal (probably 2013) is to do an IM. My plan is to do the Boise HIM this year and some IM next year. A everyone crosses the IM finish, they are deemed an Ironman (or woman), but what do they say at the HIM... You are half an Ironman? Maybe an Aluminiumman (half of iron on the periodic table.) |

A gear head who completes a drag race? A spelunker who steps in guano? Or a fisherman who catches a fish? Its just a race. Its no better or worse than a full IM or a super sprint. I couldn't help but Google the Periodic Table of Elements, and it seems that Aluminum is about half the element that iron is. Iron = #26, Aluminum = #13. It's also the element with closest to one half of iron's atomic weight. "_________, you are an Aluminum Man!" Hmmm, not sure I like the ring... |

Lots of reasons to participate in triathlons but bragging rights is the least of all of them. And BTW, it's just a race! It's not like you stormed the beach at Normandy. It's just a sporting event. Try not to let it go to your head. :-)
