AND the return of Jillian -- yay!

http://theweek.com/article/index/232848/the-biggest-loser-adds-teenage-contestants-bad-idea

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the "non-weighing-in" competition for the teens, but I'm glad they at least recognize that the show pretty much sucked the last few seasons.

Anyway, it's not airing until January, so lots of time to speculate.

dude, Jillian dealing with teenage obesity. Any of those trainers dealing with teenagers. Seriously. Anyone dealing with teenagers. Really. They better have some serious mental health professionals on that show giving those kids therapy. Instant pseudo fame combined with all the other stuff they got going on. Wow.

I'll watch it.

Love that Jillian is back.

Will likely hate the stupid teenage drama crap, though.

That does not seem safe to take such drastic measures with teenagers...

I'm not sure what the presence of teens are going to add to the show.. according to the article their weigh-ins won't be shown and they can't be eliminated. Besides, if they bring anymore drama to the show, I'm going to stop watching. It's almost unbearable now.

My favorite weight loss shows now... "Extreme Makeover - Weight Loss Edition" (Chris Powell is awesome) and "I Used to be Fat" (Joey is hilarious).

If they do it right with the kids it will be entertaining, uplifting and educational.

Well, at least they won't inundate us with spoiled rotten 20 year-olds...

Wait.

Well, I'll still watch.

As opposed to the usual stupid adult drama crap?

i'm all for drastic/hard nosed approaches.. that generation has been babied enough.. time to figure out that not everyone is a winner and it takes work and effort in life to get anywhere.. i understand that the younger side might need a slightly different approach, but don't baby them.. not what this generation needs.. firm, encouraging hand and work ethic are a good place to start.

BigDH - 2012-09-06 7:19 AM If they do it right with the kids it will be entertaining, uplifting and educational.

Which is to say, uncompetitive on prime time network TV...

This is a fine point. BUT as someone else mentioned, "I Used To Be Fat" is a great weight loss reality show featuring teens -- they just set individual goals for them. They're competitive with themselves, which might be a good way to turn it around.

And honestly, teenage whining is much easier to tolerate than adult whining because at least they're, you know, teens.

What channel is "I used to be fat" on?  I've never seen it but would like to.

According to Wikipedia it's been on MTV since December 2010.  Which reinforces my long-held belief that the show that people say they wish BL was (focusing on healthy weight loss "without all the game playing") is the recipe for a nice but unexciting cable show that few people watch.  Whether BL fans admit it or not, BL is primarily a guilty pleasure and loses a lot of its appeal without the drama and gamesmanship.

My prediction (could be wrong), this won't pull better ratings and will be the final season of BL.
