I never thought I would say that, but my god these replacement officials are bad. I never thought anyone would make the PAC-12 officials look good. The NFL needs to get this figure out.

I haven't seen anything agregious. It's been about the same. They do seem to be using a ton of replay, but I think that's new rules about turnovers, etc.

They missed a block in the back in SF vs GB and I heard that Seattle somehow used 4 time outs in the second half.

Mostly, I miss the gun show. Hochuli is a beast!

I like Mike Carey, too.

He's a good official, but that's also my dad's name.

Hochuli seems to be a great guy and he's jacked, but he has blown some huge calls. He cost the Chargers a win a few years ago in a tight race vs the broncos. He blew a call in a Lions/Bears game that cost the lions.

Mike Carey is my favorite. And he's Jacked too.

The PI calls seemed to be pretty inconsistent in the SF GB game yesterday. Other than that the calls seemed pretty decent.

But yeah, always been a Hochuli fan, usually gets stuff right.

I've actually been pretty surprised by the quality of the refereeing so far.  I've noticed that the "nuance" calls are the ones that are missed/allowed more.  One area that I've noticed especially are "pick" plays.  The replacements seem to be allowing them even more than regulars.

Everyone is going to miss or blow a call on occasion.

The replacement refs didn't even enforce some clock rules correctly yesterday. THAT IS BAD

I wish they would've missed some calls in the UCLA v. Nebraska game. Perhaps the hapless Huskers would've pulled it out.

The sequence from the Steelers/Broncos last night game was interesting:

Broncos ball carrier fumbles the ball, Steelers recover, but player is ruled down by contact.

Steelers coach throws challenge flag simultaneously with Broncos snapping the ball for the next play. Refs fail to see the challenge flag.

Refs, on review, determine that Steelers coach threw the challenge flag prior to the snap of the ball. Steelers are awarded the challenge over Broncos’ objections.

Ruling on the field is upheld. Broncos retain possession, Pittsburgh charged with a timeout and a challenge.

Don't you DARE say the words stupid about Mike Tomlin. Evah!

I can see lots of huddling, discussion, did you see this or that and it's slowing down the pace of the game. I think they're relying on / told to rely on the guy upstairs for decisions rather than making quick, decisive calls. Manning was reading the defense before the officals placed the ball for play b/c everyone was, essentially, lined up and ready except for the zebras.

The Seattle / AZ game was about the worst gaffe

Interesting little bio-type article on Ed last week. 60 years old...wowee! And good to know he's trying to keep his refs "polished up" for when they do come back. Sends them 5-hr tests and tape every weekend. He knows they'd better look fantastic in comparison.

They gave you one. The offinsive PI call was pretty terrible.

Was that a Pac-12 officiating crew for that game? I was assuming it was a Big 10 because they actually did a fairly decent job on the whole.
