Going down memory lane with the Cosby thread got me thinking of all the truly great comedians we have enjoyed over the years.  Who makes your top list?  In no particular order mine start with:

Lucille Ball

Curly Howard

Johnny Carson

Carol Burnett

Chevy Chase

Netflix has brought me back to loving good stand up. Also forgot how healing a good hearty laugh is, screw antidepressants!! watch a few episodes of 'Community', exercise and eat better!

George Carlin

Dennis Leary

Mitch Hedberg

Joe Rogan

Zach Galifianakis (Netflix standup blew my mind!)

I really loved Carlin, but his later stuff got real bitter and venomous. I could not watch him anymore.... such a shame because he was a complete genius.

Steven's style was so funny and dry, you couldn't help but laugh when had gave the punchline.

Bill Cosby - his HBO special is still one of the best bits of comedy, ever.

Carlin's later stuff was kind of a downer but very smart.  Leary always made me laugh but to call him one of the greatest is a stretch, IMHO.

I'd put up

Cosby (I remember being a kid and listening to his records (yes vinyl records) for hours

Robin Williams

Sam Kinnison

There are tons of others I'm forgetting but if any one puts up Dane Cook .... SMH

George Burns and Gracie Allen. Even though it was already in reruns when I was a kid, their show made me laugh so hard.

Shut up. Smile

I saw that Gieco commercial with Gallagher in it recently and I was like... my God, what rock did he crawl out from? Pretty big in the day... but definitely a one trick pony.

List of comedians isn't complete without Chris Rock on it...I still laugh every time I watch his "HBO specials"

Stand-up:
Bobe Hope.
Bill Cosby.
Rodney Dangerfield.
Eddie Murphy (even if it was too raunchy).
George Carlin (in the early years).
Ellen Degeneres.

Sit-com/skit/movie:
Lucielle Ball. <-- I Love Lucy was voted as the #1 sit-com/comedy of all time on some T.V. special I just saw.
Eddie Murphy.
Dan Ankroyd and John Belushi (as a team)
Chris Farley.
Laurel and Hardy (as a team).
NOTE:  I liked Abbott and Costello, but personal opinion thought they weren't the greatest.  It's all subjective.
