Run
Comments: I started out behind a few people and in the middle. I didn't hit the start button on the watch (mistake 1). Bad spot. A bit slow off the line, so I jumped to the right and excelerated around a few folks. Then I kept that pace (mistake 2). Headed into the trails and figured out I had not started the watch, so I started it then (mistake 3). Kept going a little faster then normal, and I knew it was not good, but couldn't talk myself into slowing a bit (mistake 4, this was the major one). At mile one I heard someone behind me say 8:37. (yikes, that is not good) I finally slowed a bit, settled in and figured I might be OK. Ran a bit behind the PCHS Girls track team, passed one of them. By mile 2 I knew that the tank was emptying and I needed a miracle. Slowed more and hit the water station. Slogged through until the end of the trails (mistake 5, cowboy up, Dagnabbit!), picked up the pace and finished at a sprint to pass the 4 ladies in front of me. What would you do differently?: Pacing, pacing, pacing! I've got to get this settled. I can't get rattled, taken out of MY RACE, and think I can do more than I can. Hopefully, I have learned my lesson. Post race
Warm down: Wander around the empty field and dry heave a bit. Catch my breath and go find Ann. What limited your ability to perform faster: I have to get out of my head and just run. The mental part killed me in the final mile. Event comments: Zoomers does a pretty good job, the local races are well done. Last updated: 2012-09-08 12:00 AM

This is the first time that Zoomers (tke local running club) has done a trail race, and they did it pretty well. They are still working out some kinks in the new electronic timing chip system that they recently purchased.
