I hear this commercial all day on ESPN...  I don't care one bit how a company wants to market, but it strikes me as not the best approach?  Eliminating half your market, even as a joke?

Discuss.  Or is it even worth it?

Not worth discussing.

I dropped one on a binder the other day, pretty sure they must have at least gotten some trickle down.

Probably right.

Even thought topics with even less meat have been fodder for conversation in CoJ.

But could it have the reverse effect?

I've never understood the tactic either.  I thought marketing was to pull people in, not push them away?

Maybe because I hear it 30 times a day, it got me thinking.  Maybe most people just let it filter through one ear, out the other without too much thought.  I barely acknowledge most advertising...

From my understanding, far more women than men buy diet sodas. This is just an attempt to market diet Dr. Pepper, with a name change and a few tweaks, to a different crowd, while making it more "manly." Its the same reason Coke came out with Coke Zero, men won't but something called diet.

For me, you are going to have to pry my Diet Pepsi out of my cold dead hands.

That and diet dew for me.

And that makes good sense.  I guess I figured it was split, but I can believe if diet soda is a "woman" thing they want to make appealing to men...

I guess Dr. Pepper doesn't treat women?

Not familiar with this physician, maybe an erectionengineer?

Maybe they are using the Republican membership recruitment model?

Coke Zero tastes WAY better than Diet Coke.

I don't see this ad or hear it on the radio.  I did see it on T.V. quite some time ago.  Perhaps it has fallen off the demographics due to where I'm at?

I labeled the commercial as satire, nothing more.

Women already buy the diet soda. If they like Dr. Pepper, and they drink diet...they'll buy it. No adverts needed, really.

Dudes, OTOH, do not. They need to be convinced this very manly product is for them.

It's like Just for Men Haircolor. Same as the ladies have. But they have to make it dude-specific and change the box and ad campaign, so they'll buy it. What man is going to slap performing preference auburn sunset on his head? None. But they WILL put Just for Men #7DRB on their salt n peppa.
