I'm lovin' readin about the worst concerts.  So it only feels natural to follow up with the BEST concerts you've ever been to.  I'll start off with a couple:

Best PRODUCTION:  Bar none, Pink Floyd bested them all!  Lasers, giant flying pigs, fireworks...  They put on an extravaganza unlike anything I've ever seen before.  A Pink Floyd concert just blows your mind in more ways than one.

Best MUSIC:  Talking Heads!  Not only did their live music sound almost as if they were lip-synching it was so close to studio quality, they were having so much FUN up on stage!  And then, David Byrne took cover requests from the audience.  They did several cover songs out of the blue that were amazingly good.  A band that just loved music at all levels.

Best CLUB / SMALL VENUE:  Pat Benatar at the House of Blues.  PB singing up close and personal in her hayday was like hearing audible silk.  Loved it.  Loved it!  LOVED IT!

Wife and I saw Tina Turner right when she started her comeback.  It was some time in the 80s.  She was at Carowinds' (an amusement park outside of Charlotte) ourdoor arena.  Probably 200-300 people there.  We were in the center of the 3rd row.  DAMN, that woman was GREAT!!!!!

So many Nickelback great entertainment. The Boss value for money over three hours of songs you know! Bon jovi keep the faith tour. U2 Joshua Tree tour. Carlos Santana just amazing. Simon and Garfunkel those voices still the same! Def Leppard. I love concerts but they cost a lot and do often what a let down! I've been to hundreds back in the day even got spat on by Sid Vicious

I was just thinking that after reading the "worst"!

Hands down, most memorable show, for venue & music:

1984 U2 Unforgettable Fire Tour, in the unrenovated  5,000 seat Detroit Fox Theater.  Thought the balcony would come down during half the show.

Roger Waters performing The Wall at Wrigley Field.  Took my 60 year old father to the first concert of his life, and at intermission we finessed our way in to a luxury box to watch the second half.

Any Springsteen show, but The Reunion Era Tour (think it was 1999 or early 2000) in Dallas stands out to me.

Guns n' Roses when the opened for the Stones (night after Axl stormed off the stage) was also awesome.

Grateful Dead, any time, any where.  No gimmicks, always was only about the music.  Even "bad" shows had moments of pure brilliance.

Best Production:  Kid Rock.  Caught him in the woodlands after his Devil Without a Cause CD came out.  Though not the best musician of our time, he is a really great entertainer.  Loud music, crazy lights, confetti cannons, fog machines, dancing girls, audience interaction.  Great show!

Best Small Venue:  Robert Earl Keen in the Dixie Theatre Bryan, TX.  The place was shoulder to shoulder standing room only full of people singing along with every song.

As far as best music, I really can't complain too much about the music other than the two concerts I mentioned in the other threads.  I used to work as a bouncer at  a small venue in college and got to see a lot of great acts that most have probably never heard of.  I'm a freak for live music.

I saw REK in Abilene several years ago at some dancehall.  There probably wasn't 150 people there - you could walk up as close to the stage as you wanted.  I saw him later at Stubb's in Austin, but the Abilene show was much better.

Best Live Sound compared to their album - Stryper  -  Second place Boston on Third Stage tour.

Best small venue - Rick Derringer or Humble Pie at an ABATE rally.

Best Fake Blood and Tall Boots - KISS ALIVE II tour.  ?  Plus everyone in the building was stoned whether they were smoking it or not.

I just saw Mumford and Sons play Red Rocks in August. I've seen a lot of shows, but it was hands down the best concert I've been to. They had so much energy it was unreal.

First time I saw the John Butler Trio at the Fox Theater in Boulder.  I didn't know what to expect and was just blown away by the musicianship & just the fun they had playing together.

For just sheer fun P-Funk & B-Boys at Lollapalooza and Charlie Daniels opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd are up there too.

Best Large Venue:  Rush's Time Machine tour in 2011.  Played the "Moving Pictures" album in its entirety plus a lot more.  On stage playing for 2.5 hrs.  Oh, I also had (nearly) front row center seats and went backstage to meet Alex.  I'm not the biggest Rush fan by a long shot, but this concert seriously kicked our collective butts.

Small Venue:  Fur Peace Ranch in Ohio, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casidy acoustic.  Magic.

my first Guns n Roses concert back when Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler were with the band.  We had 7th row dead center.  There was so much energy at that show...Axl was amazing!  Second would probably be Pearl Jam when I saw them in a small venue back in the early 90s.  Stadium show...the Stones way back in 78.

Large venue: Roger Waters, The Wall. With my son last summer for his 20th birthday. His first stadium show.

Small/medium Venue: Springsteen, the Spectrum, 1976.

Bar: Tough one, so many good times. Bruce Hornsby at the TLA, 1987 was pretty memorable. Saw The Band at a bar in college, was a great concert from what I remember.

This is the problem - I don't remember half of them!
