I'll start!

- See "It's a..." Ultrasound tech said baby looked healthy in all ways! It's amazing what she could see on that blurry image!
- Dad came out of his 2nd valve replacement (different ones) just fine. He told me, quite politely and in a funny manner, that I didn't need to be there. He said, "I think I remember your visit last time..." I'll be sending him a card and will hopefully talk to him sometime in the next few days when he'll actually remember!
- Had pie on pi day; Plan to make green pizza dough (and green pizza) on St. Patty's Day and we have labeled it "fun day"
- Baby shopping today and tomorrow. Baby/maternity consignment sale with sister-in-law and clothes shopping at Goodwill sale tomorrow with step-daughter. woo hoo!

Glad the ultrasound of baby looks good,  I love the ultrasounds of my kids...so much fun!  Not so much when I had to have mine.

My daughter's volleyball team volleyball team went from losing all but 3-games all season to smashing it at their tournament winning 16 of 18 games.  They killed it.  First place!

I met with my soon to be ex-wife last night w/out any lawyers or mediators.  We agreed to more items in 2-hours on our own than we have in all the hours with the so-called professional experts.  I'm not getting everything I want and neither is she...but we can agree. I'm putting it on paper today and I am hopeful that I will be closing this chapter very soon!

Oh...kids are with me for the evening, tomorrow through Sunday night.

Nothing big this week but lots of little things

  • Feeling good - prenancy continues to go well and our little one is moving around lots
  • We're having a sleep over with our nieces who are 5 and 7 this week (such fun ages - and they are still really happy to see us and spend time with us which is super nice)
  • My cousin sent over a bag of her maternity clothes since she just had her 3rd (and probably last) baby. Very thoughtful - people are so generous
  • Having a nice burrito lunch with my running buddy who i haven't gotten to run with in a while
  • Just feeling thankful for the many gifts in life

My son had a great swim meet. He got his JO cut in the 200 yd freestyle and just missed them in the 50 and the 100. In the fifty, he needed :34.10 and got :34.15 so he is sooooo close! He is 10 and has plenty of time to get his JO cuts. Now on to the long course season.

For this weekend, my niece is here playing softball in a tournament across the street from my house. She is a junior in college and it is nice to be able to see her play since she is on the east coast.

Happy St. Patties Day

Biggest achievement might be that neither of my kids was arrested this week.  Hasn't happened yet, but I'm waiting...

Other than that - big PR at a 5K (by 2 1/2 minutes) and made the top 10% for gender and AG.

Glad to see all the good news from everyone.

I have nothing to add, as it has been a pretty stressful and cruddy week, other than I am still alive.

Lisa covered the big stuff... Here's a couple more small things:

* Had a take-daughter-to-school-and-have-a-long-bike-ride day today. Made 72.5 miles while she was in school.

* Bike frame building class starts on Tuesday. Got the frame drawn out full size. Psyched!

This was truly a great week for me.  Saturdays half marathon was probably my best all around run in 20 years and I broke my goal by 6 minutes.  Also got to meet some great BT'ers over a few beers afterwards.

Tuesday had semi-annual cancer scans that came back clean.  I thank God for continuing to so richly bless me.

Glad all is well Pops and congrats on the run! Nothing that earth-shaking here in sweaty Vietnam, but...

*I survived 3 days in the national park with 60 fifth graders; all returned intact and happy. We did hear a large snake, probably a cobra, in the bushes on the night hike but, thank goodness, didn't see it!

*I've done some form of speedwork for the past four weeks now with very few hamstring/piriformis issues, which is probably a first for me in the past ten years. Saw a PT about it in January after I aggravated it getting hit by a motorbike and tons of stretching/strengthening have been very helpful. But my run fitness is ghastly as had done no speedwork since last July!

*I can sleep in my own bed with my kitty tonight, no need to keep one ear open for kids in distress.

*I don't have to ride 100 km tomorrow since I'm not training for a HIM. Only 80 km (race with a 62 km bike leg). When it's oven temps by the end, that 20 km less makes a difference!

Against a background of violent protests and amazingly unjust government policy, here is some good news in Bahrain:

  • Two fantastic college professors have gotten behind me to help send 4 excellent (2 Shia and 2 Sunni) 4th year college students to a English language teaching conference in Oman.  (the parents have given permission for the young women to go, the students have consented, the funds are there and so far, no one in the administration has put the stops to the project)
  •  Another professor allowed me to show a film and talk to her classes about reading to babies.  Arabs don't often read to their babies and toddlers and this is the ABSOLUTELY MOST IMPORTANT time in anyone's education.
  • Also managed to unstop my toilet this morning (Take ye goode news where ever ye may finde it!)
