Subject: Pool etiqutte?
I was trying to get my work out in this past Friday at the local pool, when i was constantly interrupted by two democrats who seemed to be mating in the pool. I swam to the far side out of the way of the 5 other people who were in the pool at the time. The two were connected toghter floating side to side, zigzagging all over the pool. I stopped several times to let them do their "thing" but they totally disregarded my efforts. I was patient and eventually got my workout in. Several times, I could have swam into them, but chose not to. The lifeguards seemed to watch them, but I guess PDA is okay there. What would you do? Leave? Say something to them? Swim over them? Be patient?

Liberals in the way, thats a new one! I actually just left my gym because people dont seem to care if I am working it. I left for a gym with a dedicated lap pool/ lap swim hours.

Can they rope a lane for you? Most places including my former have "lap" swim hours. That said people didnt seem to pay attention to schedule...

I would have formally complained to the lifeguard. Most people HATE conflict and this is also true with lifeguards. Unless you tell them that you are not happy, they won't say/do anything. Don't assume they see you being disgruntled. On many occasions in both clubs I'm members of, I've had to voice my concern. As a matter of fact, I once had to complain to the swim team director. They were holding team practice and keep one lane open for lap swimmers. Well the team thought this would be a great place to play while their other teammates trained. Only after I said something did she have her team get out of the public lap lane.

Ok, the pool is not a true lap pool, but people often swim laps there. Nodividing ropes. The male told thefemale "this is Obama world. He run this MFer." He said Obamas name a few other times, but I'm not sure why. Hence, I called them democrats. Now the PDA thing...He was standing, she had legs wrapped around his waist, and her arms around his neck. They were constantly exchanging short kisses. They assumed this locked position for at least 45 minutes. Meanwhile, the whole time he(or them as a unit) zigzagged all over the pool. Okay, i admit my rest intervals were way too long to be able to observe this much, but I was doing my best not to swim into them. Actually, once, I made light contact with them. I stopped, said excuse me, they didn't acknowledge, and I moved on. At one point, the unit moved to another side of pool, and by their body movements, I think they fully engaged. At this point, and I am sorry, but as I swam one more lap, all I could think of was body fluids in the pool. The pee is one thing, but..Anyway, I glanced at the lifeguard, making eye contact several times. He didn't say or do a thing, but hr was a kid. Oh well, life goes on.

Let it go.....or find a lap pool.

simple question, but didn't "you" say something to them? I understand the desire to have the lifeguard / pool police handle it, but if that is some "kid with a whistle" it ain't gunna happen. The whole give them a look, stare at them approach isn't going to work with people who are that inconsiderate and don't care what your opinion of them is. I think you should confront them right then, right there. If children were present, I would probably have been rather "forceful" in my demand to stop their activities. You were in the right, and if they balk at your "suggestion", in the end, they will be the ones asked to leave. If it bothers you, it was bothering others also.

One last thing, if they respond to you in democrat, tell them what Hillary said, "it takes a village", and every village needs security. You will be the local pool hero!!

Wow.  I don't mind poking a little fun here and there but I really don't think BT is the place for political hate rhetoric.  Save it for your Limbaugh Lunch Buddies please.

I tend to be passive-agressive with people who do this (and aqua-size type stuff) in the lap lanes.  Swim close and 'splashy'.   The gym has large signs about no lap-swimming during the aquasize classes, I feel like the inverse should also be true.

If I had overheard a conversation where President Obama's name was mentioned that many times, I would have assumed that they were conservative republicans.  They're the ones who seem to be most preoccupied with the man.  Smile  But back to the Tri talk...

So, at a non-lap swimming pool, there were two people who interrupted your lap swimming. You didnt attempt to communicate with them, but it seems like you are suggesting they are somehow in the wrong.

If you are suggesting as much, I disagree with you.

Guess, I should have left this one at the pool. Not that anyone cares, I don't claim either party. They are both out of control, slowly destroying our country. They have forgotten who serves who. No attempt at racism here.
