Subject: RE: It's official: Ironman Louisville 2007 (and 08-11) tritank - 2006-10-04 11:16 AM Think I may make this my first IM! Anyone familiar with the area out there that can give suggestions on good locations for hotels. I know we can't register for the event until 10/21 but its never too early to try to find an inexpensive hotel (if they exist). I'd prefer something that is fairly close to the race sight (not sure if anyone really knows where that is yet) and in a decent area. I don't need anything fancy...but something where the wife and kids won't be grossed out. Thanks. Stole this from somewhere else: For those looking for hotels, the Galt House is right on the waterfront where the start will be, and also the t-area. The historic Brown Hotel and Seelbach Hotel will be closest to the finish line (which is about 3 or 4 blocks from the waterfront) and there is a new Marriott downtown, as well as a Marriott suites. There are several other unique hotels, smaller and probably more pricey. Although there is another bridge into So IN, I would hesitate staying in over there because it looks like the one bridge will be closed for the marathon. Also, it's interesting that this is a WTC race. Not IMNA. Apparently, this was originally supposed to be a 70.3 but WTC liked the location and saw a need for another IM. But it will be run by a different group than the other US IMs (WTC does run Kona). Edited by JohnnyKay 2006-10-04 11:36 AM
