Subject: lets talk about rest Hi..if anyone could help clear up the whole "rest" issue I would be greatful. I know that rest is supposed to be when you get the benefits and I know that I do not rest enough. I mean I take 1-2 rest days a week, but rarely a rest week unless it just happens.
So...how often do you guys take rest weeks? And do you rest the whole week or what? I am doing my first tri a week Sunday. I plan to taper next week (swim, bike and run once each and skip my weekly strength training ). After the tri I want to build recovery weeks into my program. Should it be about every 6 weeks or so? And do you just go down in intensity or laze out the whole week? I have found that whenever I have a forced rest week (vacation or school or something ) that despite usually eating like crap I always seem to loose a couple pounds, so I think I need to plan and use recovery better. Any thoughs?
