Expert 986 Michiana | Subject: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry We've got two SOLID groups signed up for both the The Spirit of Racine and Whirlpool Steelhead HIM's. Start brainstorming for a head to head challenge where we can push each other on this. Here are a few thoughts:
We're also going to need some ideas on what the payout is (e.g. personal jock-strapping for next tri). Get your ideas flowing. Of course BT'ers are all honest, so don't even begin to think of ways to game this. Once we have a good healthy competition lined up, I'll organize and keep score. PS. Whizzzzz is tentatively signed up for both?!?

Pro 4675 Wisconsin near the Twin Cities metro | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry I vote for NOT exempting week prior to race for training time totals. Not everyone will be tapering if they are training through these races in prep for an A race later on (e.g. IM WI). Could also add a scoring system based on AG placings, similar to x-c meet scoring. Take the top 10 BT finishers for each race and then add up their AG placings to come up with a point total. Lowest point total wins. Haven't put much thought into this idea to know if it would really work. Maybe you could just take the top 10 finishers and add up their overall placings for a score - may need to have male and female scores? |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Well, we can't do it based on attitude, good looks, fun, intelligence or sex appeal because it wouldn't give the Steelhead group much of a chance. So whatever criteria the group decides to go with is fine.

over a barrier | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry We could also do the team's average finish time and add in an equalizer if one course is faster than the other. |

What are you doing? They don't need to know that Racine is a flat course which should give us an advantage! |

Expert 1357 Mukwonago, WI | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Love the idea. I'll have to think about the methods although the ideas kicked around I think should be fine. If we can come up with something that keeps it simple and as fair as possible that works for me. I'll give some thought to it. A prize would be important but how would we jockstrap for each other when geographically we are pretty spread out? |

Expert 1148 NW Suburbs, Illinois | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Yes, I am paid and registered for SOR. HL- you are funny And I like the sig line thing as a payout. And I like the categories. Most training time would be the easiest. Avg. total race time would be easy, too, but maybe not fair. Goal times would be tougher to do, but we have until March 4th for everyone to get their goal time in. With all that said, I say we go w/ training time, as it should motivate everyone and keep them going...which is the goal of a challenge, right? (other than the SOR team kicking @ss on the steelhead team ) |

Champion 7553 Albuquerque, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry I'm not racing either (as of right now), but you may want to allow some adjustments for weather. Both swims are in Lake Michigan, but can be entirely different. I think a race in Grand Haven (Michigan) had the swim shortened from 1500 m due to 5-6' waves, and it still took lots of people out of the race. |

over a barrier | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry that is a good point, the Steelhead course changes to allow the swim to go with the current, or so I've heard. We could also do segment winners: best -swim, bike, run. Note: This is just so I get props for my sub 30 min swim before I get destroyed on the bike. Edited by running2far 2007-01-24 10:34 AM |

Uhh Loose...you do know I'm on your team righ Cause I ain't a purty boy like you That's what we've come to expect...dissention in the ranks before the action even gets started!!! Team SOR (which is kinda funny by itself) will fold like a cheap card table once the pressure's on. And when Steelhead wins, does that make you SOR LOSERS? Man, that's fine work on my part for a Thursday morning. I'm in, whatever we come up with is fine. |

Well, now if you show up as strappers at SOR you will be frisked to make sure you aren't carrying any PAM, bodyglide, pliers, wrenches, thumbtacks, etc. You will be watched......closely. Saboteurs! I'll send my kids after you. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Hmm. Racine has me on the team so really they have all the handicap Racine will ever need. I am very excited about running through the zoo since they will not let you see any animals during the Chicago marathon or the Chicago 50k but now I can finally stop and go to the monkey house. Of course apart of me thought about signing up for steelhead also and if I did then I would just cancel myself out so that does not sound very smart anymore. |

I volunteered last year at Steelhead and really enjoyed it. When I called the volunteer coordinator to let her know that we would be back she not only remembered me but she also remembered McFuzz's name and the boys names! I was way impressed. She even asked me how school was going! |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry stealhead must have more IM people since no rest week is more for IM vs HIM people. if you are doing scoring based on a/g I would say personally it shoiuld be a percent of where you are and not just rank. 10 out of 10 vs 10 out of 100 typically 10 out of 100 is alot harder to do. |
