Last year it was a Run challenge...I'm sick of having to swim all the time so I vote for Run, Bike or both!

Bike challenge please.  I suck on the bike.  I am soooooo unmotivated to train on it.  But there's this little race I'm doing in April and if I don't do some serious mileage on my bike, I will fail miserably.  So someone kick my a$$.  I'm done running umpteen back to back marathons (well for the time being anyway), so it's time to get me some motivation on the bike.  HELP!!!

I could handle Bike/Run.  I don't know that I want just bike, but I could deal with it.  Last year March's challenge was bike, and I would guess that would be the case again this year.

Interested on what others also say.  I'd like to do bike this month and MultiSport base in March.  It's an early season start for me this year (4/15) and I'd like to invite you all to feel my pain pleasure next month!!!

Questions.  If you do a bike challenge, does the trainer count?  How do you measure results (minutes in the saddle, miles, wattage)?

Trainer counts, it is all about Time In The Saddle. Usually challenges are in Time or Distance, but Watts could also be done if you have the means.  Time and Disancce are easy to see in the 'Actual' logs though.

I don't have a trainer and right now there is over a foot of snow on the ground.  Although not ideal, anyone have a problem with someone doing the bike challenge part on a stationary and/or spinning bike?  That is of course if a bike/run challenge is what everyone thinks is good.

I would love to do a Bike/Run Challenge. I still have to swim, my first event is in May but I need to bike and run too. And it would be different.

As was stated, it is all about saddle time, even if it is not your own bike saddle.  Spin and stationary work.

I like the bike and run combo too (keeps me a little better balanced in the training

I'd be thrilled for bike/run... (with time-in-saddle for the bike - too yocky out to get real miles).

If both run and bike can be in time I'd love to jump in.

My first ever event in also on 4/15 so any additional motivation is great!

Bike and run sounds good to me.  I'll be a team captain if we need 'em.  Tomorrow's Feb 1st, so let's get this thing decided!  Anyone wanna be the administrator?  If no one wants to do that I can, but then I won't be a team captain...too many responsibilities as I'm also coordinating the IMAZ Weight Loss Challenge.

I'm in for 150miles bike, 50 miles run (102 miles of running last month was enough...this month needs to be a bike-specific month for me!).

tkbslc - 2007-01-30 6:04 PM I'll do bike or bike+run.  Who's in charge?

Right now there are 16 or so people on board.  Looks like in Feb I'm not traveling anywhere for business, so I can handle tracking the weekly #'s with this amount no problem, up to 30 people is not an issue. After that I would like to see some splitting of the duties.  I could also split us up into 2-3 teams up to ~ 10 on each, need to have some smack capabilities!  If anyone has a Mentor thread, let's get those group members to play too!

So Bike and Run it is, AGREED?

I can make a new thread when I have the spreadsheet ready and have it sticky up top.

What you all think about these for some Rules:

  1. Must show your training in the logs publicly
  2. Monday through Sunday is the 'week'.  1st week is 1-4th, 5th-11th, 12th-18th, 19th-25th and 26th-28th.
  3. Plan for illnesses and or slight injury in your goals.  I would like to offer;
    • that a double sickness, injury or sickness+injury is ok to drop a team member.
    • A prolonged illness (e.g. flu) or serious injury too.
    • No drops in the last week of the challenge.
  4. No log input after 2 full weeks (a team member may be dropped as long as several attempts (PM) are made to contact them.
  5. Time (min/hr) and or Distance (miles/km) for goals.  You can mix them , e.g. Run = time and Bike = miles or vise versa.
  6. Same trusty speadsheet format used for the Swim/Run challenge will be used.
  7. If someone wants to do only one event it should be ok, maybe even team up with someone else to run?
  8. Colts will win the superbowl!
  9. Hmmm, am I missing anything?

Comments?
