Generally, my philosophy is to always give a new opportunity a chance, given that it's not illegal. Opportunity strikes once and all that. But in this case, I think your instincts are good. If you're good enough for his mom, chances are you're like his mom. And if you're like his mom, and he likes you, then you're just screwed. No one wants to be some boy's surrogate mommy.

Unless you do, in which case go for it!

I don't want to speak for Dear Jim but I think the vicodin is for if/when I date the momma's boy.

Question: What kind of guy lets his mom set him up on dates?

Answer: Your kind of guy, if you're looking for someone who'll get petulant and spend the next two days ignoring you in favor of his model train setup in the basement if you forget to trim the crust off of his PB&J.

That is what I asked my coworker! It's ooking me out. I told him I wasn't going to have coffee with this guy unless the guy calls me (NOT his mother). I am withholding adjudication until I see more evidence.

Why do people ( in this case, men,) lie to people (in this case, women,) they appear to want to date? Seriously. Is it cowardice?  shame? insecurity? I think it's really lame and people (men or women) who lie to women and hurt them should get in big trouble.

I can't speak for all men, but I think it a shame that men say anything to get into a woman's panties.  I can honestly say that you are by far the most sincere and special woman I have had the privilege of corresponding with.  I can tell by your tone that you are unappreciated and deserve more in life.  I for one feel deeply about you and look forward to meeting up say....Friday night?
