![]() I thought for sure I'd log onto BT to read about her latest appearance on Chris Matthews. Unfortunately, Mrs. Edwards' call gave Queen Ann exactly the kind of attention on which she thrives. |

Tucker is basically criticizing Edwards' for `using Ann Coulter's name for fundraising.' Ed Schultz is on bashing Coulter. ``What is Ann Coulter's fascination with John Edwards? Does she want to do him or what?'' -- Ed Schultz Edited by mr2tony 2007-06-27 3:13 PM |

Elite Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had heard this name before, but didn't really know who this person was, other than a very vocal critic of some kind. I don't pay much attention to politics, or news, I admit. So I turn on the TV getting ready to pop in a yoga video, and I catch a few seconds of this. Wow. All I can think of is that Ann Coulter and Rosie O'Donnell need to be in a cage match. Two of the meanest, most hostile women I have ever seen. What a match up! |

The less you know about Coulter the better. She's an evil, vengeful, hateful person with an ugly soul. And it's hard to take her seriously when she calls Edwards a `fa**ot' and says she hopes he dies in a terrorist attack. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I guess the real problem with Ann Coulter (And a lot of the other wagging fingers out there) is that in order for her to retain her audience, she has to continually outperform herself. Today's totally outragous and over the top comments are tomorrow's cliche. Seems to me like she thrives on the shock value of her statement rather than the values of what she has to say. I don't personally agree with her politics, but then again, most of the totally over the top stuff she says has very little to do with politics. There will surely come a time when she becomes a parody of herself and then she will have nothing. I used to think that she was just another republican attack dog, but now I see her for what she really is: Someone who is as irrelavent as Paris Hilton and as mean and nasty as a WWE Wrestler. ![]() Seems to me like she thrives on the shock value of her statement rather than the values of what she has to say. Exactly. Even is Mrs. Edwards comes on and makes reasonable points and *looks* like a winner, Coulter still wins if she comes off looking aggressive and - most importantly - making the morning news shows. I mean really, who in the world would have known she was even on TV without this issue? Not to be misogynistic, but being a b**ch is her trade (jsut like being an a -hole is Michale Savage's trade) Edited by ChrisM 2007-06-27 5:07 PM |

I also am disgusted with the media in GENERAL for not presenting that information very well. I saw this on one of the national TV news shows last night, and not one mention of the fact that she wasn't just randomly wishing a terrorist-attack death on Edwards. Poor reporting, but from a liberally biased media, it makes sense. Note that her statement was from a televised interview, and that she didn't say she was spoofing Maher. She just made the comment. So for the media to say she was spoofing Maher would be speculation at best. For all we know, she really did wish Edwards was killed--only she knows what she really meant. |

Buttercup![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Given her history of venomous recklessness with which she attacks people, it should come as no surprise that nobody is surprised by the garbage that comes out of that person's mouth. Hardly newsworthy. I wonder how many horcruxes she has hidden... Edited by Renee 2007-06-28 9:25 AM |

Giver![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() lvthgme - 2007-06-28 10:09 AM That's true and a good point that we don't know what her intention was. I just think that the media is quick to scream about statements like hers when they are from "conservative" people, and it tends to let more "liberal" people say similar things with no attention whatsoever. I'm STILL not defending what she said, and am still glad she has the freedom to say it. People have the freedom to not listen to her as well, for which I'm also thankful. I, of course, agree with your last statement. I remember when Maher made his comments about Cheyney, and he was pretty well lambasted for it. And there were some differences about what he said and what she said. Maher approached the topic in reference to reader comments on huffingtonpost.com to the effect that some people postnig on that site wished the assasination attempt hadn't failed. Maher approached the topic, not on the merits of those comments, but that Huffington had taken the comments down form her blog. Maher's point was that people should be able to say what they want, no matter how despicable. Later in his panel conversation, Maher did say that he had no doubt that more people would be alive today if Cheyney had been killed. Now...that's a bit different than Coulter saying she wishes John Edwards were assasinated. First of all, Maher never said he wished Cheyney were dead. He just spoke about the consequences had the assasination attempt (which really occured) succeeded. It's not the same as wishing an assasination would take place. Subtle, but different. And second of all, Edwards isn't responsible for the life and death of soldiers the way Cheney was (and is). Edwards is just a guy that Coulter has been repeatedly personally attacking (reference her "faggot" and "Breck girl" descriptions of the guy. |

People have the freedom to not listen to her as well, for which I'm also thankful. as yes, the "he did it, too!" defense. popular among 5 yr olds, so no surprise that it should be used for ann coulter. who was ann supposedly aping when she called edwards a "f@ggot" and said in reference to the death of his 16 year old son that edwards drove around with a bumpersticker saying, "Ask me about my son’s death in a horrific car accident." so it's not like there isn't a track record here. who was ann mimicing when she said of the oklahoma city bombing, "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building," or when she said about a group of 9/11 widows, "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much," or about liberals, "Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do." i'd love to see some examples from any prominent liberals who "say similar things with no attention whatsoever" on national television and are repeatedly given a platform and paid to speak at democratic conferences. and please, nobody is questioning little annie's right to be a vile entity. the question is why she is trotted out on the teevee in her little black dress at 8 in the morning on ABC or at 5 in the afternoon for an hour on msnbc (which kinda undercuts the 'liberally biased media' canard) as if she has something substantive to add to political debate. |
