Subject: RE: What running shoes do you wear/recommend?I got good advice in this forum and then bought two more, but different, pairs so I can alternate, give the shoes a rest between runs, and put pressure on my legs in slightly different ways. It has worked great so far. Yeah, it's a bit more expensive up front but the shoes last longer that way and if you train for a HIM I bet you will go through three pairs over the winter anyway.
I have Mizuno Alchemy (my favorite for LSD runs ), Mizuno Elixir (very light and great for short runs and racing ), and Adidas Supernova Control for the other days (they're the newest pair and seem to be working for me, just haven't worn them that much yet ). If I run on trails/dirt I wear my old heavy duty Montrail Hardrock for lots of support.
I know I over pronate from looking at my old shoes and from what an orthopedic surgeon told me years ago when I had sprained my right ankle yet again pretty badly. So, I just ordered the shoes online. Then three weeks ago I "found" our local running store, went in, asked for a gait analysis and it turns out I was right. My next pair I will get from that store to support the service they provide. (I just didn't know they were there until I entered a 5K race and the packet had a coupon for that store in it... )
Good luck finding your dream shoes!
