OK all you Minnesotan Tri-geeks...time to fess up!

Where is the best shop in Minni?

My wife, son and I are spending the weekend in your wonderful town, we'll be taking in the usual sights...lego land, a Twins game, the Zoo etc. BUT I would love to spend some of my money in a bike/Tri store (since our exchange is unreal right now!!)

Let me know!!

Gear West would be the largest dedicated tri shop in the metro area. Got lots of nice bikes.

Erik's and Penn Cycle are 2 large LBS chains in the area. The have some tri stuff.

That's all I know.. Perhaps my fellow 'sotans know a couple more places.

Ditto Gearwest. It's got pretty much the only true 'tri shop' in this area. All other stores are bike shops with a little tri stuff.

BTW when you go look at the tri bikes in the new section of the store, be sure to look up - it's cool. They have bikes on the floor, but have a BUNCH of bikes hanging from the ceiling.

Come on down and spend some $$!

X3 for Gear West.  Don't be surprised to see no mention of Tris on their outside advertising.  It's really wierd, but they advertise Ski, Run and Soccer in huge signs outside.  I drive by there on my way to my OWS place

It's really easy to find.  Just head west on I-394, past 494, and it will turn into Highway 12.  When you enter the city of Long Lake, it will come up on your right (past the lake) and it's a big building.

Gear West x4. You'll be underwhelmed as you pull up, but not when you go inside. Everything they carry is quality. Plus, every person that works there is a good triathlete. You just might have your bike fitted by the guy who finished 6th at Escape from Alcatraz.

If you get to the Gear West running store, you've gone too far.

Here is the link to their cycling page: www.gearwestbike.com

Starting to sound really redundant, but yep, GearWest is the place to go.  Where else can you go and have two different employees with Engineering degrees from M.I.T., one who is a proffessional triathlete, be there to assist you.

I have bought tri gear at Erik's Bike shop in Burnsville and I think their St Louis Park has the most tri gear of their Twin Cities stores.  After seeing the brochure for GearWest in my Lifetime Fitness goody bag, it looks like they would be the first choice but depending on where you are in the Cities, at least consider the Erik's stores I mentioned.

tw - GearWest can get a little crazy on weekends this time of year. If you can swing it with your trip, try going on a weekday. Plus, you'd have more staff focused on you (many of them race or support races on weekends).
