Welcome to the Running Challenge

A black cat crossing your path, breaking a mirror and even crows have all been seen as bad signs. Something that predicts something to fear in the future… and for this challenge lets be a team to fear!

Your team line up is:

  1. Atl runner
  2. El Flaco
  3. Enders Shadow
  4. Gaiaserver
  5. Kaqphin
  6. Oweiss
  7. Sparco
  8. TexOma
  9. Tntexpres

Please introduce yourself to your team below with your goals for the challenge and running in general, what they are training for as well as names and any other general info.

You will also need to nominate/select/volunteer a Team Leader whose role will be to collect the commitments for each runner and collect your team results every Monday.

Your running time must be logged in your BT Log for verification purposes, but you are responsible for reporting your weekly results to your Team Leader on Mondays, this is done by posting an update in your team thread in the challenges forum unless the team prefers another method.

Attached to this post is an excel excel spreadsheet to be used by the Team Leader for your team tracking and should be sent to me on Tuesdays AM so I can get an challenge update post in the forum by Wednesday each week. The spreadsheet includes the details of any team members who have already made a challenge commitment.

I will be maintaining a Team Leaders thread for any queries, questions etc so if there are any problems please let me know.

This is a team competition so please support your team mates with inspires, motivation and encouragement as well as pledge your allegiance in your sig line, log and even avatar!

Good natured sledging and competition with the other teams is part of the fun so feel free to stir up a bit of friendly rivalry,

Most importantly this is all about fun and you reaching your goals!!!!

So…time to get running! Let the challenge begin!!

My name is Jim.  I started the month off right with a run this morning.  So my weekly total is 6.82 miles which is a little over 5% of my total commitment of 125 miles.

I'm training for a marathon December 9th which I hope to do in 4 hours. I hope that being on a running team called "Bad Omen" isn't a bad omen on my chances of making it.

I'm happy to be here with you all, so let's go kick some haunted butt.

Hey fellow Bad Omens! Let's win this thing.

I'll be adding ~5 miles to the pot tonight with some treadmill Intervals. Some good training for sure.

Let's get the month started right. Running is our first love for the next 30 days. Give over to the dark side. Runner's are Awesome! .. and let's face it, we look good too. So let's show every other team that attempts to cross our path exactly what A Bad Omen we can be.

Good morning Bad Omens...my name is Sal and I'm a BT addict...

Wasn't gonna run very much this month.  I'm gonna pace my wife in her 1st half marathon on the 13th, and then WAS planning on calling it quits on the running until January, concentrating strictly on swimming and biking October through November (in prep for my 1st half iron in June).  But once again, BT changed that all!

Thanks Catherine (kagphin) for heading this up, and Tam, welcome to the team!  With your training discipline, it's gonna be hard for us to lose this one.

Good luck all.  I'll try to get in a few miles this afternoon.

Good morning Sal!  Looking forward to being on your team again also.   Just what I need, another excuse to spend more time on BT!  Team Bad Omen is gonna do so well, the other teams won't know what "whammy" got cast in their direction - until it's too late...hehehe.

Hello all.  my goal for the month is 26.2 miles.  This would be the highest monthly total for me since December 06 when my battle started with ITBS.  I have been making nice strides the past two months in starting rebuild a running base and hopefully barring injury I will meet my goal.  Best fo luck to everyone on the team.

Hey, all -

I'm traveling today, but wanted to check in and say hi!

I'm in for 30 miles this month...coming down from a high (I think) month of 40+ miles in September. I close out my tri-season this weekend and I didn't want to set any goals for October, but I can't turn down one of kaqphin's challenges.

Happy to see some familiar faces on my team & happy to meet some new folks!

Pay no attention to the previous post.....I think he has lost his marbles!  Greetings teammates.  I'm El Flaco.  I'm a runner turned triathlete so I think this is a good challenge for me.  I've got a maraton planned for the 21 of this month so my training miles are fairly high.  Let's kick some arse!

Hmmm.... it will be easier to catch and EAT a team that only has 2 good starters with the rest being BOP fodder...

I'm betting that a team that has 2 people that challenged 200 miles and 2 more over 100 miles will be easy to beat.  Someone in there will fall short.  Maybe more than one.

We have 3 people that challenged over 100 miles.  I wonder who he thinks the 2 starters are?

Hey Spokies!  This is an easy one.  If we can just get you on the mindset that running = swimming, I think we've got you beat...(good-natured ribbing IS allowed here, right?)

Hiya,

Apologies for not making an introduction earlier! I'm Catherine but everyone calls me Cat (outside of work and immediate family anyway).

I'm a kiwi living in Australia which means Im half a day ahead of the US (approxiamatley). We are heading into summer here but due to a variety of health and injury issues I had to write off last season and a lot of the winter training has been spectacularly inconsistent!

Im hoping to race some short distances over the summer here and possibly if I can stay consistent, aim for a HIM either mid or late 2008.

For this challenge Ive committed to 800 minutes of running.

i look forward to us WINNING!

Cat
