![]() Swim
Comments: It was REALLY low tide. A lot of the men tried to run the swim. Passed a lot of the men trying to run the swim. There was a HUGE distance between the swim exit and the time chip place. They calculated my swim with the !)@*#(@##$# run as 12:54 but I hit my watch as I came out of the water so my actual time swimming and not running was 10:53 What would you do differently?: Start more to the middle of the pack. I'm a strong swimmer and starting to the outside (like I did yesterday) hurt me. There were lots of poor male swimmers (no offense guys) who went out too fast for them and I got tangled up with them. Also a lot of guys trying to walk the swim course got in my way on the outside. I did pass a lot of walkers while swimming and passed a lot of breast stroking men...that felt good ![]() Transition 1
Comments: OK there was like a 1/4 mile run from the swimm to my bike..AARGGHHH I Hate running...OK I don't hate running I just stink at it. Lucky me...MORE RUNNING. My 'official' T1 was 2:39 but that included half of the run from the swim. About 20 people passed me on the run between the swim exit and the transition area. What would you do differently?: 1)learn to run faster 2)start in the middle of the pack at the swim start. 3)have better knowledge of the race layout. ![]() Bike
Comments: the road was REALLY bumpy. It was a fast course and totally flat. Was happy with my bike. Was bummed out it was so short What would you do differently?: I'm getting clipless pedals soon. Really nothing. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Felt I did T2 as best as I could. I got off the bike with ease and had no problems racking my bike etc. Dropped my wrist band which I use to wipe sweat off by accident and forgot to bring my running water bottle from the car. What would you do differently?: Remember water bottle, and sweat removal device ![]() Run
Comments: Was TOTALLY unprepared for the beach run. There was nothing in the course information about that. I did OK the first 2 miles, but the remainer of the course was in REALLY SOFT powder like sand which was really difficult to run in. I got passed by at least 100 people on the run What would you do differently?: Learn to run faster. Be more prepared for course conditions although there was no way of knowing the run was on the beach. Perhaps if I was faster the sand wouldn't have been so churned up and soft if 300 other people hadn't already run on it. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around and found my family. Bought new sungalsses. Drank a lot of water and fluids. What limited your ability to perform faster: I STINK AT RUNNING Event comments: It was really well organized with plenty of drinks, volunteers and helpers. The venue was very good and they even had indoor showers at the beach house. They lose points because 1)the info on the web site is poor. They do not tell you about the large distance between the swim and bike areas or the beach run 2)The race distances are not correct 3)the race map really is completely not helpful if you have never been to the site and even if you are there its hard to decifer. Overall Rank = 333/459
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 17/26
Got up at 4:30 to drive to the race. Had 1/2 a bagel and Diet Coke.
Stretched after setting up transition area. walked around to figure out where the swim started and to oreint myself to the venue. My parents came with me and they were volunteers in the body marking so I made sure they were OK.
