blujay65 - 2009-05-20 8:00 PM But I do have folks I can do OWS with, a bunch of guys, who do HIM and IM's, I am in a bit over my head, but they give me something to chase!

cutie patooties.

always a nice thing to chase.

i never used to like trng/wrkng out w other people - id go out my way to avoid it actually.

but the more ive gotten into it, the more i actually seek out 'company'....

i really do have a good network of people at the Y.  the only thing we 'lack' is a true tri club.

theres a masters swim team that meet.  and a running club.  but not a tri club per se.

maybe down the line.

an odd couple of days what w my kids being home from school today, tomorrow and monday.

just working through to figure out where to fit everything in.

i may have to drop a workout, not sure what one though.

shouldnt affect my challenge totals any, as ill be over w minutes cuz of the brick and race xtra points.

if i dont drop something, i wont have single rest day until next Sunday...and that aint good.

oi me.

best laid plans...then life happens.

that said, i'll be heading to the Y later on after my dh gets home.

64 min swim and a 38 min run.

HERE'S TO A MOST SPLENDID DAY.

Today is a taper week.  Both volume and number of workouts are down.  However, this weekend I have a ton scheduled.  Friday OWS, Saturday 70 to 112 mile ride with 6 mile run, Sunday 40 mile ride with serious hills--We're going up the (hopefully) the Tour California steepest ride.   Monday, it it OWS with a run afterwards -- sounds like brick to me!

Happy holidays & training to one and all.

I had a terrific ride tonight.

Question for Nicole...I noticed the spreadsheet doesn't let me go over the goal.  Do I need to increase my goal since I'm way over on bike time or will any overage be totally disregarded?

Never mind, I went ahead and bumped my goal up.  Bike goal is 24 hrs since I was already at 19 with bous from the century only.(not counting the brick bonus in from last weekend)

JEN.  you got it.

people ask me all the time what got me into running/tri'ing, and i tell that them that i keeps me off the streets and outta trouble AND keeps me from having a MID-LIFE CRISIS.  LOL.

whatever it takes...

as for the swim.  OH MY TEAM.  im tellin' ya, i felt like i could have swam forever.

in fact, if i would have been in OW it would have taken me days to turn back to shore.  LOL.

64 minutes of CONTINUOUS SWIMMING.

im so not kidding i did NOT stop the entire time....cept to turn at the walls.  wouldnt want to bump my noggin now would i?  LOL.

and this was AFTER a grueling 60 min spin class [my spin instructor is a CRAZY woman!!!!   love it!]

i kept thinking if i can do this workout, and feel SO good (honestly the longer i went the better i felt) surely i could do a 1/2 IM.....gots me thinking, scheming, planning, dreaming thats for sure.

and get this.  not only did i swim continuously for 64 mins after that class....

it was soon enough afterwards that i SCORED a brick.

YEAH ME!

YEAH TEAM!

woot wooot!

GEOFF.

DITTO.

are you doin' the Tour California?

good thinking tackling that hill in a trng ride.

i got this in my inbox from Runners World....maybe it will provide some inspiration as your climbing those hills:

"Many people shy away from hills. They make it easy on themselves, but that limits their improvement. The more you repeat something, the stronger you get."

CLIMB.  CLIMB.  CLIMB.

Morning team

I'm sorry to say this but I have to drop from the challenge. My father had surgery this week and is requiring more care than I anticipated. I have not been able to train, and dont envision it happening anytime over the next few weeks.

Sorry guys. Keep up the great work

Hey!   I'm sorry sorry to hear about your Dad.  This challenge is so unimportant compared to these curves that life throw you.  Take care.  If you get time, keep posting to the forum.  Sometime getting out is what you need to keep you healthy.

Ok... I did not get the full 112 in, I only did 80 with a 20 minute brick run.  Woo Hoo.  I have hit the target for swim and bike.  I wasn't sure I was going to get the bike complete this month.  To answer the other question, yup we're riding part of the Amgen Tour of California.  Part of it is a serious grade (sierra road)--but I'm not certain I will make it that far.
