There's the steel curtain, the Ravens, the Bears..... Yet I don't see the sea guls mentioned. How odd.

Seeing as how an AFC team has to be in the Superbowl, I don't see how that's odd. The Steel Curtain, '85 bears probably would've had their teams suspended for half the season in the current NFL. The Seahawks are dominating on defense in spite of the current rules (coincidentally changed after your QB whined about it when NE mauled his WR).

If you look at some advanced stats, they favor the Seahawks, giving them a 58% chance to win.

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2014/week-20-dvoa-rat...

Using the same stats from the regular season, Denver has the 6th best offense since they began tracking, while Seatlle has the 7th best defense since they began tracking. In addition the Hawks have the 7th best Offense and 5th best ST, vs Denver with the 15th best defense and 21st best ST.

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2013/final-2013-dvoa-...

All time, #1 defense in the Superbowl is 12-3, offense is 10-8. Head to head #1 D vs #1 O, defense is 3-1.

QB's that led the league in TD and Yds are 0-3 all time.

I can keep going

So what you are saying is they hold no records, have not done anything any other team has not done. But surely Lynch set a new rushing record, Sherman set a new interception record, fewest yards... Come on, seriously... Nothing? I thought for sure they were something special. But ya, if you need help from the weather to win, I guess that makes sense.

But sure... carry on.

What I'm saying is Denver = 2007 Patriots, Seahawks = 2007 Giants

Another fun stat, teams that led the league in passing yards have NEVER won the Superbowl.

Oh and Harvin was officially cleared to play.

I'm not sure I believe that... Montana, Warner, and Peyton all put up big numbers. The Rams alone held the records at the time with "The Greatest Show on Earth".

But you don't need to pass because you have Lynch and it will be bad weather right?

Good thing for Denver they actually have a running game with two talented backs sharing duty. It will definitely shut Peyton haters up when he becomes the first.

Funny thing is... right now you are saying the Broncos suck in every measurable way... but IF they beat Denver... all we are going to hear about is how they shut down the most dominate offense in history. Just a little fun fact for you.

I clearly said earlier I think it's going to be a close game (28-21), I'm just laying out why the Seahawks will win.

Worst team in the league this year vs kickoffs? Denver. 6th best returner all time? He's going to be playing now.

Well, this is no longer fun for me...  I guess I don't have the nature to talk sports or religion or politics.  I'm not one to talk crap about someone else.  The whole "if you can't say anything nice..." thing, I guess.  I try to talk smack, but it's not comfortable and forced.

In this case, I'll talk about how great Denver is, but I'll never say how BAD Seattle is.  Just not my nature to talk trash.  I don't mind hearing all day someone brag/talk about how good their team is, but it loses it's fun when they start slamming my team or saying how bad my team is.  They are NOT bad.  Bad teams don't get to the Superbowl.  I just end up getting mad hearing people put my team down.

So good luck to you Seattle fans.  The hawks make me nervous with their fantastic D.  And if the ref's let them play?  It could be a tough day.  The only teams that beat Denver this year, they let the secondary play VERY physical and those borderline interference calls went to the defense.  I felt that our receivers got mugged, but it was just VERY close calls they gave to the coverage.  Just depends if they call it tight or lose, IMO.

I just have faith that Peyton can still be precise enough to overcome and play action will free up the runners enough to be effective.  I like "our" chances as a Bronco fan.

Don't bail on us now! I'm just poking fun at the Denver fans. It's going to be a truly epic game I think. Both teams are going to be matching strength for strength. Even if I wasn't a Hawks homer, this would be an epic game. Manning set all kinds of records this year. By some measures the Hawks have one of the best passing defenses of all time. This game will decide the future trend of the NFL. Is offense now the way to go or is it still defense wins championships? Plus the game is in an outdoor stadium with actual weather, like it should be! Once the Probowl is over, I imagine this game will be hyped a ton. Both teams were 1/2 preseason favorites to win the Superbowl. Both teams are #1 seeds. Both teams are 13-3, with all 3 losses coming to excellent teams (Indy/SF/AZ and Indy/NE/SD).

Yet It's OK? to refer to someone's comments (mine) as "uninformed nonsense"?!

These chat rooms are a hoot, sometimes.  Lots of great opinions and lots of pretty sharp folks able to express them.  But the door swings both ways-you can get into the 'scrum' and take your shots or you can leave.  But IMO it's bad form to come in, take a few shots; get a few in return, then proclaim that your morals are better than everyone else's as you run for the door.  Maybe the Politics COJ has jaded me?

That's funny.  You make it sound like I came in, dished out some insults and then leave as soon as I get some in return.  Check the timeline.  I NEVER said anything negative about Seattle until it was in defense of Denver and your comments about how bad they were.

But you're right.  I guess since I punched back, it's just as bad as punching first.  That's why I said it's no longer fun.  I'm not for dissing your team... And not in the mood for hearing about how bad mine is.  I'm not going anywhere.  I'll read all day if people want to boast about their team.  It's great to have pride.  Just not going to return punches or defend against comments about how BAD my team is.  It's not fun...  I'll continue to take pride in my team and talk about the positives in their play.

The books set the line with Seattle about a 1.5 favorite.  But the early money has been on Denver so the line moved and now Denver is favored by a couple.  TYPICALLY, it's the smart money (or professional money) that goes in early to take advantage of any mistakes on the line so you might THINK that the pros think Denver has it.  HOWEVER, this time, the general public has been betting Denver heavy moving the line.  Not sure where the smart money is going.  They feel the public is going a bit too much with their heart - currently, loving Manning (and know him better than Wilson) and probably anti Sherman.  I'm guessing smart money is still on Seattle.

I agree.  I'm not going to take any particular pride in the fact that I had them both picked to go at about week 8 - considering so did half the nation.  But it's kind of cool to feel a bit like a prognosticator.

No worries...  BTW, the Bronco secondary scares the crap out of me.  We are vulnerable there.  And I was more bothered by the comment Denver can't run, not the porous defense.  Our defense ALWAYS worried me.  I think they get lazy because if they give up 30 points?  Big deal, we score over 40.  I'm HOPING that when the game counts, they step up.  I think they showed they can against NE.

Current weather forecast is calling out 25 degrees with no snow. Sounds like Boise.

All this jawing back and forth is what makes football such a fun game to watch. The game of football also makes stats just a waste of toilet paper (sorry Josh). If this were the NBA and they had to play 7 games, then yes the stats would matter a great deal as over 7 games the strengths and weaknesses would really come out. But this is football, it all comes down to 60 minutes, whoever shows up to play and plays to win will win, stats and trends be damned.

Makes the game fun and exciting even if your team isn't involved. My dog in this fight got knocked out by the 9'ers so my main want for the end of the season was to see the 9'er's lose. Already got to see that so the SB is just icing for me. But, I am looking forward to seeing Peyton crush the Hawks.

Wilson is a good guy and all but the way Peyton commands the field of play is without equal in the NFL, that will make a huge difference in the game and to the players on the field. Having a leader like that in the huddle can make a big difference in a big game where nerves are high. Gonna be a good game either way!

Very true.

As for the game, I find myself just hoping that it's well played and that nothing controversial happens with the refs, blackouts, wardrobe malfunctions, or post game rants.  I'm finding that with social media these days, it seems like it just takes one or two blips to totally overshadow the entire game.  The amount of time that the media spent on Sherman's post game comments was ridiculous...it overshadowed what was a really good game.

I hope at the end of the day, the only thing for people to talk about is the actual play on the field.

I like the under and all the blocks I bought.

Should be a fun game to watch.

There definitely is no true favorite.  From everything I have heard from the talking heads, it seems pretty split...  Neither team seems to be "the pick".

This one is tough... there is just no clear thing I can look at and say that's it. They don't play each other and it is a real unknown how they will match up. A good case can be made for either. Obviously I think the Broncos are going to do it. There D has been playing better in the post season. Peyton has a running game he can use. He has too many weapons to cover all the time. Seattle will get pressure on him. It's not going to be easy... but the weather is going to be fine, and I just think too many things are lining up for the Broncos. I will not be surprised if Seahawks win... they are a solid team... but I think Manning is going to get #2 and be the first QB to win with different teams.

We'll see.... but this is the first time I have been a fan of a team and got to watch the whole run up for the last couple years and it's fun to be here.
