Also, does anyone know how far apart T2 and the finish area are from each other?  Just trying to figure out if I can walk to T2 after the race to get my bike or not.  I am thinking it shouldn't be too far to walk??

runnergirl - 2009-11-22 9:38 AM I'm a little nervous with the swim course.  I'm going to have to sight REALLY good so that I don't get a little off course and swim head on into someone going in the opposite direction.  From the map, the swim course looks REALLY narrow.

I would be surprised if that map was really to scale... I don't think you need to worry about it.

Okay, I am TRYING not to eat the paste, but I'm now worrying that I'm NOT worried about packing and I'm already packed!

someone give me a glass of wine Surprised

Did anyone else find it amusing that the athlete's guide recommended trimming your fingernails and toenails?    Instead of working on getting packed, I'm going to trim my nails now

I'm still debating on bringing our wetsuits.  Packing 2 of them take up a lot of space.  Hmmm....decisions...

The athlete guide says NO WETSUITS... (but I think I'm still going to bring mine)

4. Since the projected water temperature on race day is 81 degrees Fahrenheit (27ºC),

wetsuit use won’t be permitted.

Yeah- it's one of those things to where I really don't want to pack them.  But...knowing our luck, we'll get there and due to some race day miracle the water temp will cool enough and the race will be wetsuit legal and we won't have ours.  But..I really don't feel like bringing them.  I guess if space becomes an issue we'll leave ours at home.

I have decided not to bring mine, I am just bringing a speedsuit. I am all packed up and leave at 8am tomarrow, so no way of going back to get it. I hope they don't loose my case, it has all my stuff in it. I weighed it tonite and its 90lbs, just 10 lbs under the limit. Anyhow have fun traveling and see you all down there.

Safe travels!

I am paranoid about my bike getting lost so I'm taking all my gear with me in a tri bag as a carry on.  I figure if my bike get lost at least I'll have shoes and pedals and I can rent one   But hopefully I won't have to worry about that.

Has anyone checked the weather recently?  According to the weather.com forecast the rain should move out before the race- which would be perfect!

Almost there!

Anyone planning on doing the Thursday (or Friday) swim practice?  If so, does anyone want to meet (since we are suppose to use the buddy system)?  I am expecting to go 1:20ish for my swim split and will likely do 1000-1500 yds at the practice.

Will there be live coverage/tracking for sure?  I haven't been able to find anything about it on the website.

I would *think* that they will have live tracking but I'm not sure.

I just read the athlete's guide (yes- the entire thing!) and noticed a few things:

We will not have access to our gear bags the morning of the race so we won't be able to add/remove anything the morning of the race.

The run course will be marked every mile- which is awesome, because I was worried it would be marked all in km, which would require me to think and I'm not sure I'll be able to comprehend anything by the time I get to the run.

Also, it appears that we will need to retrieve our own gear bags for T1 and T2. I know at IM FL volunteers go them for us- but I guess that won't be happening at Cozumel.  So it's a good idea to make sure you know your BIB # (yeah, it seems simple but with everything going on during an IM race it's easy to forget) and where your bag will be.

Bike pumps aren't allowed to be placed in our pre race drop bag.  So...if you bring a bike pump make sure you have someone that you can hand it off too who can keep it.

One more thing- transportation after the race to host hotels will not be provided   I don't know how far our resort is from the finish, but if it's not too far I think we'll just ride our bikes back- or walk back with them.  Not sure yet until we get there and see where everything is.  But make sure to arrange post race transportation.

p.s.  I'm tapering- please pardon my excessive posts in this forum

I emailed the guys at the contact emails listed. I've heard back from them in the past but it takes a couple days !

We have to get our own SN... do volunteers still get our bike and run gear bags?

Just got done packing... bike, wheels and some kit in the box, 48.5lbs

Flying out 9am Seattle time tomorrow!

Did my last pool swim and treadmill run this morning. Next swim, bike and run on the course (or near by) once down there.

Super nervous about flying with a bike.
