Does anyone plan to go to the athlete's pasta party on Friday?  I know most of us are staying at all inclusives and won't *need* to go but if anyone plans to go let me know.  Maybe some of us can meet up??

Just looked at the weather on weather.com and it looks like we will be riding with some lightning. I am sure glad i am not bringing my steel bike. Does carbon transfer electricity? Anyhow weather sites are usually wrong.

Let's hope that forecast is wrong being so far out   I actually panicked about the weather a few months back and registered for IM CDA as a "back up" jus tin case something happened with couzmel weather wise.  Hopefully the weather will be good come race day!

Lets hope it changes for the better. I would rather have a little rain, thunder, and lightning as long as the wind stays away. But then again thunderstorms make their own wind. If cozumel is like any other tropical place one minute it will be sunny, the next stormy, and then again sunny. It will make for an interesting race.

I just got my girl back from the shop and she is all tuned up. I borrowed the HED wheels and have never raced on tubulars before. I got some great advice on changing a tire in case of a flat. I will have two spares stretched and preglued just in case. They are also filled with some sealer to help if a puncture happens. They say the sealer will do its job if its a small puncture, on the larger stuff the spare tires will come into play.

I'm taking sealant with me. Will make the call once there and check out the course on sealant pre race or if I flat. From what I've read/seen pics of, the road looks great. So it would be things like debris or broken glass to worry about.

I've changed a flat during a race twice. You might be surprised how fast you can do that with a bit of adrenaline pumping. Just make sure your spare tire's valve is long enough for the rear wheel. You don't want to put it on there and find that you can not inflate it. An other trick, and this means you are tossing the flat tire, is to take a razor blade with. I tape it to the side of the spare tire, put it out, use it cut across the flat tire, stick a couple of fingers in there and pull that tire right off super quick. If the flat is small, you can put sealant in the tire, inflate and if it seals, off you go.

I think that I'll put my set of Vittoria Pave Evo-CG tires on for the race. They are a little heavier than Corsa Evo tires, but the little piece of mind might be worth it.

I'm kind of panicing about the weather, but I think we're still too far out to worry about next sunday's forecast!

I thought about the razor blade idea, and I think I will get one when I get down there. I don't think the airlines like razor blades in their planes. I am using TUFO S33 PROS. Don't really know how they are, but they are the tires my buddy put on the wheels before I borrowed them. He's done a few IM on them so they should work just fine. The rear has a new tire because I flatted it on a training ride. Didn't have a spare and had to walk 3 miles home.

Where's that don't eat the paste article. Concentrate on what you can control. Leave aside what you can't.

Sweet lookin ride---the wheels go well with that color!!!  Of course you might find the skewer more helpful on the bike then on the floor  Just sayin!!!

It's the latest thing to run bikes without skewers. Everyone is doin it. It will make the race that much more exciting. That skewer is just an extra one. Once again the weather in cozumel has changed. I think I can become a meterologist, I can make something up then change it an hour later, sunny then cloudy oh wait sunny again.

I recommend and encourage everyone in the male 35 to 39 age group to ride sans skewers....

same for the male 30-34 group, I swear I will leave mine out

Some folks will do ANYTHING to shave a few grams off of their bikes!

Latest example of how useless it is to trust the weathermen for predictions... Here in Central Tx rain was supposed to end before midnight, per the weather people as of yesterday evening. As of 11 am today, still raining...

In other news, anyone else celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend due to IM Coz? I fly out TG day, so today will be family's Thanksgiving day. Smelling the turkey now

yup! flying out early early turkey day morning... one of my IMCOZ buddies is doing a thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night though

I am jumping out of my skin excited! let's DO THIS !!

I am celebrating t-day in coz, since I fly out mon. Guess I'll have to find something that looks like turkey and eat it. (Chicken counts, right?)

Super excited for you guys! My wife and I have been discussing for about a month now on whether I should sign up for next year or not. We will definitely be watching next week to see how it goes.

That's what I'm hoping for - not a steady day of rain. I'm used to riding in the rain, but that's not what I hoped for when I signed up for IM Cozumel.

As for weather forecasts not being correct, well, at IM Boise 70.3 last June weather.com predicted steady afternoon rain from 10 day out, 9 days out, so on and so forth. Right on schedule, the heavy rain started at 3pm.

The final swim course looks interesting - I cannot wait to swim around the submarine!

I'm a little nervous with the swim course.  I'm going to have to sight REALLY good so that I don't get a little off course and swim head on into someone going in the opposite direction.  From the map, the swim course looks REALLY narrow.
