I got another swim in tonight - starting to get the hang of this swimming thing....I think.....sometimes I can go several laps feeling good then struggle for a couple before I get back in the groove.......Anyway - I know I started the challenge slow/late and probably had several of you wondering about me.....no need to worry....I am committed to this challenge and I WILL MAKE MY DISTANCE!!

Partly because I have heard the crack of Mila's whip.....wait..... Is that motivation to do or NOT do the distance! Can I get clarification on that?

Midweek Challenge Update!

Greetings February Challenge Participants!

Have you been wondering what's happening on all the teams? Here's a quick update!

Team Swimming Rocks - Co-Captains: kns57, Milaminute and Devouahy
The three team captains are currently fighting over possession of their beloved Little Pink Whip. The winner might end up being Devouahy, as he can hold his breath for 6 min 18 seconds – without turning blue! Unfortunately, Captain Kendra has bronchitis and needs to withdraw from the challenge – however she is now the Official Team Cheerleader! (Can you hear her in the background? She’s yelling, “Go team! Swim like rocks!” – Er, or something like that.)

Team We  T.I.T.S. - Co-Captains: tnickerson and Tupuppy
Well, I’ll give you one guess as to what this team is discussing. Yep, it’s "All T.I.T.S. – All the time." We’ve got T.I.T.S. that are pink and red, and even some with GLITTER. And some people, well, they have more T.I.T.S. than others. And… well, enough of that. I’m sure you get the idea.

Pitter Patter of Fast Feet... aka PFFT - Captain: 1for1
Naked runs! Yep, that’s the topic on this team. After Waterdog66 told the team about his naked run, the team was quick to contemplate how they could do this too! Stop by to find out which members of this team do naked runs, which members live near nudist colonies, and which members really want to do naked runs but feel it’s just a tad too cold outside.

LEMmings- the reRUN. Once again over the cliff. - Captain: RunnerX
Next stop - Team LEMons. Er, I meant "Lemmings." (I don’t think they appreciate my loving nickname for them.) Many members of this team seem to be plagued by the plague. Others are dealing with “the drippy sinus thing.” Despite this, they’re still racking up some impressive mileage. And they finally chose their team name - if only to avoid having me select it for them!

Gingerbread Joggers - Captain: Enders_Shadow
Puberty, temper tantrums and the “teenage years.” This group is discussing the hormonal swings that make for parents’ nightmares. Team Captain Kristen said “Groovy.” (When was the last time you heard that word?) Pam (crea0029) will be doing an indoor tri this weekend – Good luck, Pam!

Running With Scissors - Captain: Artemis
With over 400 posts already, this team looks to be a clear winner in this month’s Post Count Challenge. (What? You didn’t know there’s a Posting Challenge? Well, now you do. Get posting! LOL) Julie (Girl Passing On Left) has been displaying her creativity with some great pictures! She’s also been named the team’s Official Highlights Poster! Steve (reno8) has learned how to put a GLITTERY team table on his training log. And Lynne’s (Scotinseattle) snake ate a mouse, while her bird bit her – um, please refer to the Team T.I.T.S. discussion!

Hope you enjoyed this midweek challenge update! If you weren’t mentioned in the update – well, you must not have been posting enough! Try harder for next week! And in the meantime:

SWIM! BIKE! RUN!

WOW! Like I said before, this is the first time that I have participated in a challenge and I am a complete newbie! WOW! You are all so motivating. I am getting the hang of the "inspire" button on the blogs and it is neat to know that there are others out there keeping up with us. I have always run, swum and rode alone.... it is nice to be on a team.

GO TEAM SWIMMING ROCKS! Tomorrow is my next swim day and just knowing that you are all out there putting in your laps makes me excited for my swim! No backing out due to laziness and ALL those other excuses which have come easily in the past .

Okay- just put in 1850 in a great swim! I think I love swimming!

My only problem is I do not love fooling around with that spread sheet. I am afraid I'm going to goof it up. Can some one either post or PM me with how to add my 1850 so we can add it to the team balance tonight? Merci!

Hey, I swim like a rock.   Maybe I should have joined your team

although I gave up swimming for Lent (and Advent, and Thanksgiving, I may swim again around Memorial Day - guess that wouldn't have helped the this team out too much if winning was the goal)

Well I put in another 1000m tonight. So I am at 33% I know my goal is only 6000m but that is still 2000m then I have ever swam in a month before!! I may raise it as I seem to set out to swim 600m or 10% then go to 750 then say well I am here I might as well go for 1000. One day I will go over that I am sure but it was only a week ago that I did a 1000m workout in the pool!!

Well, either some kind soul added my yardage (if so, thanks!) or I actually did it myself even though I thought I had not... Anyway, I'm up to 22% after two February swims, and for that, I feel happy!

All right folks, I checked the math, and we should be at 20.7% so far for this month.

I got to the pool and got in just under 23 minutes (600 yds -- I'm also one of the "newer" swimmers).  Still under 20.7%, but closer to the goal (18%) and I've got one, possibly two more swimmys before Sunday.  The challenge is helping me to get even more creative about getting my pool time in.  (Snuck it in while child #2 was at ballet and #1 sat poolside and did some homework)

Wow - sounds like almost everyone is out there swimming! Go Swimming Rocks!

I got in another 2700m tonight which brings me to about 31%!

And on a separate note, my wetsuit should be arriving sometime tomorrow or Friday which means I'll be doing an OWS this weekend! I can't wait to look at something other than that darn blue line that runs down the middle of the lane....

All right folks, I checked the math, and we should be at 20.7% so far for this month.

SO everyone with less than 20% better get moving, it get's harder to get caught up later if you fall toward the bottom of the pool.

I know you can all do it, so let's move our tails and start swimming.

Phew!!!!!  I'm at 22 % (I'm pretty sure).  Trying not to slack :-)  Swimming was tough this morning.  My arms and shoulders were sore from my lifting session on Tuesday.  I managed to complete the workout, though.  Hopefully tomorrow morning's swim will be more comfortable.

Not to take it away from Captain, but just updated spread sheet and the following have picked up and are above 10%.

    tntexpres  ;  gracetheterp  ;  jacsuza

Great job and keep it coming. Team, let's all get moving, and get our swim mileage up there by the end of the week, I couldn't of asked a better team to be a member off. Cheers.

Hans, no problem. This captain does not mind having the help. I think we will make you a co-captain so that you can continue to inspire and update the spreadsheet all you want without feeling like you are stepping on toes. TEAM SWIMMING ROCKS - I have declared that Hans is an official co-captain. Mila might loan him her whip if you all don't listen to him.

LOL, no, no, no... as one of the co-captains I say he gets to play with the spreadsheet and I'll play with the whip.... wait, that doesn't sound good...

Thanks for your help, Hans!

You can hold on to the wip, we just need to start cracking it. We need at least 24% from everyone to be on track. Go girl, start wipping that thing !!

I think that would be a promise! I got flogged for trying to take the wip, so be carefull!!

Go Team, will get back to it tonight to provide an update on where everyone is at. You all have till tonight to get to 24%, or Mila is going to start cracking that wip!

I kind of enjoyed it, so maybe you may want some too! Kept me going faster on the bike last night!! You all have a great training day!!

PS. kns57; thanks for sticking with us as our cheerleader, we all love you for being our Team Captain, and hope you heal up from Bronchitis soon. Happy training.

Devo - Whip it

"Now whip it - Into shape - Shape it up - Get straight - Go forward - Move ahead T- ry to detect it - Its not too late - To whip it - Whip it good"

Booyah, my 1st 1300 yards done, no 0% this week! Finally felt good enough to get to the pool this morning.  Didn't push it, took long RIs, but sure felt good afterwards.

Hey, if you update the spread sheet like a good little rock (and I see you did) then no worry about making sure your totals are up to date. You are now at 25%, no Hans cannot flog you yet.
