Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jezzieswims - 2008-12-22 10:25 AM I think these first few days will be easier being at work and not at home around the Christmas goodies. I don't know. They guys here at work are always bringing in something that is loaded with fat and sugar. It's really hard to stay away from it. The bums keep the stuff out on the desk for easy grabbing when you walk by. If it's something I have never had, I take the smallest piece of a piece just for a taste. Now, that is out too. There are cookies outside my office calling my name! I WILL resist! = ( |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() DeputyDawg - 2008-12-20 5:37 PM Dream Chaser - 2008-12-20 5:12 PM I plan to add raisins and cranberries to my plain oatmeal. I also bought Motts Apple Juice with no added sugar. Oh, and Motts Apple Sauce is safe! Maybe I can add apple sauce to my oatmeal?? I add apple sauce to my oatmeal all the time with a sprinkle of cinnamon...It's very tasty...I'm thinking a small amount of nuts in there as well may be good, but I haven't tried that yet. My typical breakfast is Quaker Old Fashion Oatmeal(100% NATURAL ROLLED OATS), cinnamon, frozen blueberries, 2 tablespoons of honey and 12 raw almonds. Very filling! It takes 2 min in the microwave to cook. Then I'll have to egg whites from hard boiled eggs. Total 437 calories. Satisfies my sweet tooth. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() willie05 - 2008-12-22 8:30 AM Quick Update - I'm going through the thread now and collecting names and weights and adding them to the spreadsheet. I'll have it posted this afternoon on Google with instructions how to get there. Basically all you'll need to do is place an X in the row beside your name. Then if you want, put the date and what you ate below it so the rest of us can drool over it! If anyone has trouble getting to the spreadsheet, or would rather post here when you eat Chocolate Cake with Moose Tracks Ice Cream, covered with Whipped Cream and Chocolate Sauce, feel free to do that and I'll mark the spreadsheet.
mmmmm Chocalate Cake Moose tracks Ice cream you are evil! :-) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kathy, I went with the egg, ham, and some cheese breakfast. Not bad got a lot of protein for my workout. I had a little acid build up during my work out which I haven't been experiencing. You ever get that? May have been a coincidence as it passed quite quickly.

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow! I've gone a half a day already (out of seventy). It's been easy. This is going to be a piece of cake. Oh why oh why did I use THAT metaphor? I have found that if I tell people that I am off sugar and sugar substitutes until February 28, they respect that and will actually look askance if you even glance twice at the endless supply of holiday cookies, candy, cake, etc., that is scattered everywhere in my office. Good luck to all (and me) for the remaining 69-1/2 days. Leah |

Passed on the Not sure what you mean by acid build up.....can you explain more? I used to get indigestion a lot but eat lean meats, fruit and veggies I never get it. My guess is that might not be what you are talking about. Still no headache..yah! It is my daughter's 13th birthday today...we now have 4 teenagers living at home..Brian-19, Kyle-19, Emily 14 and Shasha is 13 plus of course Libby but she is just 10. |

There are so many temptations at work, as my co-workers bring something sweet into the office almost every day. It is very difficult to check my mailbox, as it all sits out on the table by the mailboxes. Since I live by myself, I make sure that I don't bring any of the bad stuff into my apartment. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nice job on the spreadsheet! I think we should continue to have Joe Slacker eat bad things, so none of us will come in last. |
|
![]() ![]() |
![]() I couldn't believe it - I just looked up Joe Slacker's last Ironman, and he did it in 9 hours 58 minutes. How the heck does he such crap yet perform so well? But seriously... thanks Bob. AWESOME job on the spreadsheet. And I like that you said we should write in what food it was that we slipped up with. Maybe, if someone keeps slipping up with the same food we can identify a pattern and suggest alternatives to avoid further slip ups! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, I made it today. I had a super stressful day at work too. By mid-afternoon I was craving something sweet. I got past it and now I should be good. Nice spreadsheet. I am really motivated! |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree that the spreadsheet is great and send my hearty "thank you!" Many thanks too, to Dream Chaser for getting us started on such a great mission. So many of us had a wonderful, victorious day...I hope we can keep each other motivated to do that well for the next several weeks AND BEYOND! I'm looking forward to having my taste buds change so that I don't have problems with bad cravings! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great Job! It sounds like everyone is hanging in there. Who will be the first to slip up? Odds anyone? I think there is probably added motivation to not be the first. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll be the first to give myself a ding on the first day! 4 hours sitting in an airport with nothing to do and a terrible headache...I got a diet coke. I have decided I need to wean off it a little, I can't just do both cold turkey. I'm thinking two cokes per day this week, one per day next, then trying none. Even that will be a fantastic improvement. I've drank about 4 bottles of water today and didn't even train. Thats amazing! |

That should replace the caffeine, no? I'm grasping at straws here. Thanks for your honesty. We are here to Help and Support you. Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have felt okay today but my family says I'm awful cranky. They keep teasing me and making fun of me. I guess it goes with having a husband that has a wicked sense of humor and lots of teenagers. For my dinner tonight my plan was big spinach salad with left over turkey breast which my husband used in making dinner for rest of the family. Hope tomorrow goes smoother. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wish I liked coffee, just can't do it. They had tea, which is what I'd been living off of. But the iced teas all had sugar in it! so did the juices...ugh! tomorrow I finally get to go to trader joes for some "good food". I just don't know if I can do tea and water all the time! |

They are schweeet!! Would you believe my wife just baked candy cane cookies and rainbow cookies!! They are sitting right behind me. I just keep telling myself, and I told my au paire who is doing this as well, to "Just think of Holiday cookies as art. They are nice to look at, but you can't eat them"

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks Bob for putting the spreadsheet together. It looks good! This was probably counterproductive. Went to specialty grocery store that carries food from all over the world. Usually I indulge in their wonderful selection of chocolate. Since I couldn't, I got 1 lb of German Salami and Wasabi peas instead. I think it took less than 20 min for my partner and I to go thru 1/2 pound of that salami. Had Christmas dinner at the inlaws tonite. Was able to resist the candies, chocolate, blueberry pie and pop. I couldn't however resist the shot of Drambuie after dinner. What was the final verdict on alcohol consumption during this challenge? I found this which best describes what's in the Drambuie: Drambuie® Scotch whiskyA honey and herb flavored golden scotch whisky made from aged malt whisky, heather honey and a secret blend of herbs and spices.Alcohol information: Alcohol (ABV): 40.0% (80 proof) Drambuie® Scotch whisky nutrition facts: (per 1 oz serving)
Just wondering if I get a ding or not? |
![]() ![]() |
Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I got my first ding today accidently. I went to the tanning bed today and they always have a hard candy and towel laying on the bed. I popped the cinnamon hard candy in my mouth without even thinking about it! Still didn't think about it until I got out to the car and my husband said "what are you eating?" My reply "a cinnamon candy". He said "you can't eat that". Then realization finally hit "you're right!!!" So, the lesson for me is I definitely need to be more mindful about what I'm eating instead of just following old habits. I was a little disappointed my ding wasn't a little more worthwhile though. I don't even like cinnamon hard candies very much
