Agreed!  I am looking forward to leaving work a little early tomorrow to run around the Lakes.  Haven't done that for a long time.

Fun!  We saw a story on the news last night that some communities have to scale back the rinks so any open rinks are busier than usual.  I am hoping our neighborhood rink will be up and running and I might just have to dust off my skates.

Us westerners got a good dump of snow.  I would estimate a foot.  I went for a short run yesterday to check out the trails (plowed!) and the street (poorly plowed).  It was actually a nice day to be out running, just a wee bit slow...

We were hoping to take out the winter bikes this weekend, which my husband's been working on.  I hope someone comes back and plows our street again.  It was a terrible job!

Glad you guys just got snow.  We got several hours of RAIN.  That's right, rain.  It was 35* and raining for a while.  Last night it went down to 14*.  Now you can walk on top of the snow.  I have NO idea how we're going to get the car out today.  What a PITA.

Winter sucks and I want to move to California!

On the upside, only a few more months before spring thaws will make being outside a lot easier.  Sure, we can count on a few March and April blizzards - but at least the snow melts inbetween!  The roads in St. Paul seem particularly bad, little island of ice that grab your wheels.

I admit, I am not brave enough to go outside and run lately.  I need to put on my big girl pants and suck it up soon.  Of course my winter bike just got finished in time for the Xmas Eve snow dump.  Awesome.

Although temps are dropping, I am on call for work so that means no partying tonight.  I will be acting as the DD so I can get some good workouts in tomorrow on the day off.  I am going to give the Yak Trax a shot and see how long I can make it!

OK, this is too cold.  I ran a 5k yesterday and that was bad.  Then I wake up to -20* today.  Uck.  I can't even put the horses out in that temp.  Guess they will stay in this morning, making more mess for me to clean up.  Is winter over yet?

Starting to feel like the old fashion winters I remember growing up in.  I hated them then also.

I posted on another forum that it was -32 here this am.  A lady in Texas posted "Oh, it was colder than that here - it was 30 degrees this am".  So I replied "I think you missed the minus sign in front of my temp"  haha

That's funny!

When I was a kid, I remember playing basketball outside when it was 30 below.  The ball bounced for about 5 mins, then needed to be brought in to warm up for another go.

It's much 'nicer' here in the metro, only -20.

Was it the early '90s when the state shut down because it was so cold?  Arnie Carlson was the gov I think.
I remember not having school for a few days, so we played outdoor hockey.

I've heard people bring that up before, but I am not sure when that was.  Crazy!  Wish it would happen again...

Sounds like we were lucky in Hopkins.  The coldest we saw was -14, which was the temp around 2 this morning and again at 8 when we got up (ugh).  Up to 1 now - woohoo!

I am seriously reconsidering whether to do the Securian Frozen Half Marathon...I'm just getting too old to deal with the pain...

I'll keep an eye on the temps, and register later...I'm a wimp...

It was 30 at racetime in Bemidji today - I did wear shorts.  And it was 42 in the afternoon when I did the Polar Plunge.  Can you believe those temps?

Out of sight, but NOt out of mind.  Still hate this weather.

Today was a record drive to work for me.  It took me 2 hours to drive 18 miles!  I actually had to stop partway for a potty break, I was in the car for too long and hadn't planned for that.  I need a new job closer to home...

From local news station:
ROCHESTER, MINN. (KTTC) -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising no unnecessary travel in southeastern Minnesota due to icy roads and reduced visibility.

Guess what azzclown school district has NOT dismissed yet.  <head-desk>
