Perfect running weather for sure. Once I'm acclimated I like anything between 20-40* F. If I could breathe it would be okay. I'll test the system today. It will be about 30 when I run today. Take good care of yourself. I'm still sick as a dog. I made Christmas Cookies last night and didn't eat a single one. I have an open box of chocolate at home and haven't eaten any for days. Obviously I'm not feeling well. Stupid nasty cold. |

Elite 4201 washington state | Subject: RE: Christmas Cookies - Du-December Challenge Got my run in today. It was not a good one. It was my first time on the treadmill at the Y. The treadmill is okay... a little boring but I expected that. However, the room is a comfortable temperature if you are NOT running. So it was WAAAAY too warm after I got going and there are no fans, so there is no air movement. YUCK!! However, I am current on my workouts, so that is good. |

Got a nice swim in today @ the gym pool! Hot tub was NOT workout though. Booooooooo.
I have a planned 9 mile run Friday on a lovely trail near my house. I take my dog and his backpack with me. He needs all the exercise he can get, plus I run sloooooooooooow.
Got some free running shoes tonight from a friend for my birthday! Will try those out tomorrow Pair of Brooks. Niiiiiiiice.
I hope everyone that feels good stays good and to anyone that doesn't, slow down and get better. Don't push yourself. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: Christmas Cookies - Du-December Challenge Good morning Cookies!!! Got 6.2 miles in last night, and a swim. It was 33 when I started running, right before sunset. It was 30 when I got home in the dark. I don't know how you cold weather runners do it, my midsection was freezing. My legs were warm, my head and hands were toasty, but my tummy and back were freezing, I think that's where I sweat the most. I usually do a cool down, but it was just too cold last night. Short run tonight, maybe 4 miles or so, then hopefully another 6 tomorrow. Have a great day Cookies!!! |

Don't know what you run in, but I wear a short-sleeved tech shirt (cycle or whatever) underneath a long-sleeved tech shirt. At those degrees, I would also throw on a tech jacket or over-shirt (or possibly a heavy cotton sweatjacket but it tends to make me too warm by trapping the heat & moisture). Having the extra layer on my mid-section really helps. Having tech layers also seems to help me not get so chilled with sweat. Way to keep at it! |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Christmas Cookies - Du-December Challenge I started taking a different kind of cold medicine, so I don't feel quite so bad, however I took the day off of biking. I was becoming really crabby so I slept in this morning. Maybe I'll make it up later in the month, but for now I'm just concentrating on feeling better. So here's a pickle: I've gained like 40 pounds since the last time I was running, so I've had to buy a lot of new running stuff. Which I don't want to spend a ton of money on, because I intend to not be this heavy for long. However, it is starting to get really cold outside in the mornings. Can anybody recommend a nice lightweight water/wind-resistant running jacket that DOESN'T cost a bundle? |

I have seen multiple references in other threads on the forum about how good the Target C9 stuff is. You may want to look into that. |

Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: Christmas Cookies - Du-December Challenge Hi everyone. We had our first snow last night so about half of today's run was on a snow/ice combo - not too much ice so not too bad. I've hit 5 days in a row running now and am hoping to get out again tomorrow - all nice and slow (zone 2 on my HRM) and all about 3 miles.Have a great Friday! Edited by dcon 2009-12-18 6:12 AM |
