laurak11 - 2011-08-09 6:09 AM Forgot to mention offically got my foot in a boot.... MRI on Monday... pretty sure it's a SF that I've been nursing since March due to IM training/pushing to hard to fast.... Either way it will be good to know, and I've already come to terms that I'm in for alot of swimming/biking!

Ugh! I was in the boot last year for several weeks. I walked about on a SF for months bec no doc would order an MRI. Better to know what it is and get it healed!

To track how many calories I have burned in the last week, I am using a Droid App called Cardio Trainer.  It puts a little box in my notification bar on my phone.  I want to keep this over 3000 (just 2500 for the last 7 days so I need to do more work) which lets me know that I have burned at least one pound of fat in the last week.  I then need to just keep my diet in check and I will accomplish my goals.

I just though I would share.

looks nifty, why don't you just rely on BTs calorie tracker?

I thought I should post my photos from today here as well as in my log.  Photos are so honest that I feel guilty I was not as strict with my food intake (ate a lot of unnecessary junk last week) or workouts (skipped a bunch).  This honesty motivates me for the next week so here it goes:<

it is good motivation. I was thinking of changing my avitar to my picture, ha, probably be a little too much public motivation for most people though.

Bummer on the boot.  I was in a boot before IMKY 2 years ago.  Did your DR recommend physical therapy while you are in it?  Basically when you are in the boot, your walking changes due to the weight of the boot and the difference in putting a shoe/sneaker on the other foot.  When I was in the boot my healthy side, started to hurt....hip, knee, foot....I felt like a mess!  Anyway, I did PT for the healthy side, worked like a charm

Because BT doesn't remind me every time I make or receive a phone call, send or receive a text, play angry birds, check facebook, etc.  My phone kicks my butt with reminders.  I am just a wee bit ADD (okay--a lot ADD) so I need something in my hand reminding me to do everything.

Week 1 Results are below.  I did consider creating a Google doc spreadsheet but I like tracking our progress personally.  With Google docs, I feel it would be easier for someone to quit (not that you would) the challenge (I have seen this with myself).  By tracking each one of you and myself personally, we all are accountable to someone besides ourselves.  I have decided not to track BF% since we are all measuring this differently or not at all (which is fine as it is just another measure to track success).  It still is a good thing to measure weekly if you have the capabilities (I still cannot find my calipers!  My sons may have used them to measure something somewhere).

Keep up the inspiring progress--I know I need it to get my diet in check.  The problem is that when I run more (relay coming up so that is all for me right now), my appetite is out of check and I eat, eat, eat.  The hell with portion size.  This has got to change for me to see my line head south.

Thanks for putting this together!

AS for eating....a 4 oz portion of fish is the size of a checkbook, chicken is the size of a deck of cards.  When you look at what a portion size REALLY is, you really notice super-sized portions.

laurak11 - 2011-08-09 2:49 AM scale this am 155.6 which I'm thrilled! This is actually where I probably started, but I'll take the drop.  Not too thrilled w/ this diet though. Pretty sick of eating meat, chicken, fish repeat I may have to try a week of mod eating to see if there is a difference.
  Woot!!!!

I hear ya on the restrictions!  Was almost in tears last night with my "nutrition coach".....begging for a nectarine!  I know this way of eating is just short-term for me to get my fat-burning switched on, but it's tough.  I guess if watching what you eat were easy, everyone would do it.

My cheat meal is on Thursday, can't wait!

Did anyone else reat the article in USA TRialtlon with the pillars of a nutrition plan?

4 key points:

1. your needs will be different depending on where you are in your training cycle (DUH!! how often do we ignore this point!)

2. Improve your metabolic efficiency to change your body composition....Abs, your test will be enlightening!!

3.  Learn more about how the food you eat effects you

4. periodize your nutrition with your training cycle

interesting.... where can i find this?

It's in the publication that comes to me free with my USAT membership.  This is the Summer 2011 issue, been around the house for a couple of weeks.

Sorry.

Aquajogging is good substitution and Pfitzenger has an aquajog plan on line that is pretty good.

I'm always so envious of people that can find scenery like that just outside their front door.

I've been doing so good these past couple of days but they are having a bake sale for charity and I cheated - and it wasn't good - that's the worst.  I'm all for the 80/20 but if the cheat isn't good quality tasty food then it's just a total waste.  Fortunately it was a small cheat.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Rainy up here!

Shake it off and get back on the wagon and no regrets. Well, other than it wasn't a good cheat!

Green Mountain Cam???  If so - that is my go to spot when I get home to ride and run - Dinosaur Ridge is so much fun

Yep--I work on Union so I run up to the east side.  If I am feeling good and want to play hooky from work, I will climb to the top--brutal though.  I have never been to Dinosuar Ridge but really need to take my boys there.
