On par from last week but I did run today at lunch.  That is my habit I HAVE to get back!

Have a great and healthy weekend.

So my buddy who is a pro triathlete wants to coach me for IMTX next year and we have been talking about my biggest limiters. Consistency and my weight which go hand in hand. So he has me doing a sort of Atkins like sort of plan here to get a nice kick start to my weightloss.

Wow, 3.6 pounds in 2 days. After writing down what I normally would eat (not that it was a shock to me) but wow, I fit the picture of normal American slob. Processed food, tons of dead carbs, hardly any water, tons of pop. So we will see if I can hold to it and make some permanent changes for the better.

Does he want another victim?  Those are both my limiters as well.  If I am consistent and drop the weight I can fun and bike fast enough to be very happy with my IM.  Consistency is the key.

Abbie--are you up to the challenge of coaching me to 12 hours?

Bummed this Monday. I had a pretty good weekend. Made good foo choices, got a little training in (not as much as I would have liked, but life and chores still seem to get the better of me), and today, up a pound. I am going to have to work harder this week and it is holiday party week. 3 of them!!!!

So...blew my back out again on Thursday.  Good day for it, since I had a physical scheduled for Friday.  Not nearly as bad as a year ago.  (I think it was a year)  Basketball the culprit this time and not snow shoveling.  I'm recouperating quite quickly, all things considered and hope to find time to hit the elliptical tonight.  I think I'll hold off on the plyo I've been planning, as well as Yoga.  Doc. didn't say anything about what I can/can't do - just took x-rays and no word on diagnosis.  I'm a bit stiff in the L4-L5 area with some (but not much) pain.

"down" to 215.6 on Friday.  Last week Sunday I was 220 - so that's some good weightloss.  Just have to up the training from none to some and watch my diet as I am expecting to get a bad cholestoral report.  I intend to hit 205 by Christmas day - to do that - I am going to avoid the multitude of Christmas parties in the building.  They begin this week.

Have a great week folks.

There are some good articles in the DEecember issue of Cooking Light......lone of them is on Mindful Eating with relation to holiday foods......summary:

deep breaths x5 before eating

be thankful

all food is good, just admit to the CHOICE to eat whatevr you are eating instead of focusing on the "should/ should not" of it all

when mindlessly nibbling STOP and deal with the stress you may be stress eating over

ENJOY the food before you

During those 5 breaths think about how good it feels to be light and speedy v. the temporary goodness of the item to be eaten. I have been using this this week and it has helped enormously. I think of how good it will feel to NOT feel large and awkward at my races this summer.

Lots of success around here!  That's great to read (and a kick in the butt to me as well)... congrats to everyone!

I'm slowly working my way down from the Thanksgiving debacle...

One thing I've started trying to remember to do ... when I eat, CHEW my food.  I tend to not pay attention and just shovel it in, but if I take care to chew the food instead of just swallowing it, I eat less and I'm just more mindful of what I'm doing.

Mindfulness.  It really does all come down to that, doesn't it?

As I was reading this I was swallowing chunks of food without chewing...too funny.

Great article.

I have been trying to take my time and taste each bite when I eat. It worked well last night. I went to a wine pairing dinner. It is amazing how you can enjoy the taste of each bit and sip, without actually consuming a whole lot of food. I ate and drank about 1/2 of what others did but I bet I enjoyed it as much.

I'm headed in the wrong direction again -- up to 152.  I've been eating pretty decently, though ... I've been sick since Monday and I'm convinced that the extra weight is simply all the snot and crud I'm carrying around in my chest and nose.

Also - doesn't help that I really haven't been sleeping well.  I find that unless I'm TOTALLY skimping on calories (i.e. skipping meals), I have a hard time dropping weight when I'm not getting the proper rest.  Weird.

My goal is to be good this weekend.  Usually it's pretty difficult for me, but really going to be mindful of calories and what I'm putting in my mouth.  I want to be down a pound by Monday...
